They also experienced more physical symptoms, such as upper respiratory problems, aches, gastrointestinal problems, and other health problems.
Furthermore, these negative feelings and symptoms they increased continuously during consecutive days of sleep loss and did not return to baseline levels unless they had a night’s sleep of more than six hours.
Soomi Lee explains that once that becomes a habit, it’s more difficult for the body to recover completely from lack of sleep, thus establishing a vicious cycle of worsening daily well-being, which could affect people in a professional way.
The expert explains that, in a previous directed study that she herself conducted, she found that losing only 16 minutes of sleep could affect the job performance. What’s more, their previous findings also show that less sleep loss can decrease daily attention, which is a critical resource for managing stress and maintaining healthy routines.
Therefore, Lee concludes the study by advising that the best way to maintain good daily physical and mental performance is to book more than six hours to sleep every night.
