Very interesting, but unnecessary on the part of the RAE, to make such a difference: since when we “grate” (in the culinary field), what we are doing is neither more nor less than the action of submitting a surface (such as that of tomato, cheese, etc.) to the action of a sharp or abrasive element (the grater).
Those of the RAE often have plenty of motivation, but they lack reasoning, and those of us who are a little “donkeys” can end up confused.
