These are the September holidays in Barcelona

After a mostly holiday month of August and in which the bulk of the population has taken a well-deserved break from their daily obligations, he arrives September and with her resumption of labor, economic and social activities.

This year, as usual, it has a total of 14 holidays, eight of which are held throughout Spain and another four are chosen by each autonomous community. The other two remaining are chosen by each locality.

La Mercè 2021, still marked by the pandemic

La Mercè, the biggest festival in Barcelona, ​​will be held from 23 to 26 September and it will count, despite the pandemic, more than 500 activities. The mayor of Barcelona, ​​Ada Colau, and the new deputy mayor for Culture, Education, Science and the Community, Jordi Martí, detailed yesterday how the different events that make up the planned festive program for this year will take place.

In 2021 the 150th anniversary of the first major festival organized by the Barcelona City Council and in which Havana is the guest city.

At the presentation, Mayor Colau announced that the Barcelona neighborhood activist Custodia Moreno was chosen as the proclaimer of La Mercè 2021 and unveiled the poster for this major festival, created by illustrator Malika Favre.
