The Barça shield, with the LGTB flag

The FC Barcelona joined the pride day LGTB (lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals), which is celebrated every June 28th since the 1970s, spreading the club’s shield over the rainbow flag through its social networks, which identifies this group. The Barça club continues in the same line that it already showed a few days ago after the UEFA prohibited lighting the stadium with the rainbow flag Allianz Arena of Munich during the match between Germany and Hungary of the Eurocup , decision that caused a general rejection of the world of soccer. On that occasion, Barça reacted implicitly very quickly to UEFA’s position by spreading the same image that it repeats today under the slogan “pride and respect”.

“Because we are more than a club!”, Wrote the culé president Joan Laporta on that occasion, while footballers with the repercussion of Gerard Piqué endorsed the initiative: “Of course, Barça,” wrote the central. The Norwegian winger Caroline graham hansen she was very direct with UEFA. “Shame on UEFA for not letting Munich illuminate the stadium with the colors of the rainbow! (…) It is a question of equality, humanity and a position against hatred ”.

The new show of support from FC Barcelona the collective is also, by contrast, a way of exposing a UEFA which claims to champion a series of principles such as his famous ‘Respect’. The presiding body Aleksandar Ceferin he tried to get out of his veto of an Allianz Arena with the LGTB flag as it was “a political decision taken by the Hungarian parliament”, whose team played that game. Hungary promoted through the ultraconservative government of Viktor Orban a law that prohibits the “promotion” of homosexuality and gender reassignment to those under 18 years of age.

The LGBT flag or rainbow flag has been used as a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans pride since 1978.
