Apple may launch 4-inch iPhone 6S mini in 2015

Apple’s MacBook Air may not be the only smaller-size product released in 2015. Timothy Arcuri forecast in a report to investors obtained by AppleInsider Cowen and Co. analyst that Apple will release a new 4-inch iPhone 6s mini model to provide a new option for consumers who prefer the smaller screen size of smartphones. Arcuri’s prediction aligns with supply chain rumors published earlier this month by GforGames suggesting that the new model will target female users who may find it difficult to operate the iPhone 6 or the iPhone 6 Plus with a single hand. Apple has always emphasized the importance of being able to use its smartphones with one hand and even included a special Reachability feature in iOS 8 that makes it easier for iPhone users to communicate with the content they view. While the 4-inch versions for iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are still available for customers who prefer a smaller handset, these older models are likely to become less desirable when new hardware hits the market. The 4-inch iPhone 6S mini will have a curved edge-screen design similar to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, according to Arcuri. He also claims that AppleInsider states that the smaller iPhone model may be using purpose-built low cost components. If this rumor is true the iPhone 6S mini could be advertised as a slightly more advanced iPhone 5C version. Picture Jewel Samad / AFP / Getty
