Sometimes it is difficult to understand the difference between one word and another in many languages. Do
Firstly, everything is a verb that means “do“:
“I do my homework “(I do my homework)
It is also an auxiliary verb that is used to ask and deny (in its form no) in the present tense, and goes to the beginning of the sentence. In this sense, it does not have a Spanish translation:
“Do you like coffee? “(Do you like coffee?)” Yes, I do” (Yes I like it)
“Que do you want to eat? “(What do you want to eat?)
Secondly, do can be used to emphasize an affirmative action in the present tense, placing it in front of the main verb:
“I do work here “(I do work here)
“I do know what it means “(I do know what it means)
Do is used for the following people:
- I (me)
- You (you / you)
- They (them)
- We (us)
Denial: Don’t / do not
Preterite: Did
Past negation: Didn’t / did not
Does
It is used only for the third person singular:
- I have (he)
- She (she)
- Item (that)
Does has the same uses as its shape do, as a verb “do“, as an auxiliary verb and for emphasis, but refers to these three people only:
“I have does his homework “(He does his homework)
“Does he like coffee? “(Do you like coffee?)” Yes, he does” (If he likes it)
“Que does he want to eat? “(What do you want to eat?)
“I have does work here “(He does work here)
“I have does know what it means “(He does know what it means)
Denial: Doesn’t / does not
Preterite: Did
Past negation: Didn’t / did not
