Vimeo Fined 8.5 million in Rome Court for Not Removing Licensed Tv ContentFigure 1 Photo Credits: Vimeo Rome Court of Appeal placed on Vimeo a burdensome fine and constructive preventive mechanism. Article 13 expresses its pleasure at the decision underlining its value for Europe as a whole. YouTube must benefit from the incompetence of Vimeo, or they may be facing even greater charges. The Rome Court of Appeals, which decided to impose a massive 8.5 million fine on them, took a blow from what could be considered as a preview of what is to come with Article 13 rule Vimeo. The explanation for this is their inability to delete infringing copyright content owned by Italian media channel Mediaset who was also the prosecutor. In reality, the specific skirmish between the two started back in 2012 with Mediaset alleging that Vimeo users illegally uploaded multiple programs broadcast on their network to the video platform based in New York. Over time, though the Mediaset-owned content list on Vimeo exceeded the magnitude of over 2000 videos so that at this stage only a fine would bring a definitive stop. The Rome court has also placed a precautionary measure to prevent copyright infringing content upload to Vimeo to avoid this from happening again in the future. According to the ruling Vimeo must pay a fine of 1000 every time this happens and another 500 for every day the content on the video platform still remains available. Article 13 supporters greeted the court decision with declarations of satisfaction with the case as a sign of the new legal framework that is about to be introduced in its entirety. A Mediaset spokesperson told local media: “A clause that seeks to harmonize copyright laws in the individual States to protect the creative industry and publishers who, like Mediaset, create content that annually remunerates the rights of all authors.” Enzo Mazza the Ceo of the Italian Music Industry Federation also shared with TorrentFreak the following comment: “This decision is It helps the creative industry to better tackle the battle against copyright infringements in the streaming region. The ruling is also revolutionary in Europe with respect to liability for losses. “While Vimeo was the” guinea pig “who paid the bell tolls for YouTube as well as being exempt from safe harbor security under Article 13. YouTube is a much larger video site that certainly needs much more intensive attempts to censor videos to avoid future charges of such heavy fines. This remains to be seen early whether any arrangements for dealing with practical issues will be included in the final form of the new legislation. Facebook Twitter. NordVpnbest Vpns based in Panama including the TechNadu’s. For a while now one of its famous selling points was a 7-day trial that was completely free of charge. However this Vpn service has now announced that due to widespread harassment it is shutting down this bid. As mentioned by TechRadar subscribing to NordVpn will now be charged immediately but there will be a span of 30 days after which they will be able to get their money back. According to a NordVpn spokesperson, the reason for this decision is due to fraudulent accounts that have been massively generated that could have toll on the infrastructure of this Vpn in the future. NordVpn reduces the risk of someone abussing their network by being a premium-priced service without a free trial, triggering increases in traffic on their servers and impacting other users too. It is interesting to note that this news comes days after NordVpn’s Tv advertising has been flagged as misleadingNordVpn sending out suspicious traffic which has prompted security experts to respond. The reason, however, was that this extra traffic was indeed a counterblocking mechanism implemented by the Vpn itself. We would like to finish this article by saying that all the knowledge you need about this Vpn provider is covered by our recently updated review NordVpn. YouTube to amend its Guidelines on Abuse and Privacy Policy
ByBill Toulas-December 12, 2019.1019 YouTube is ready to kick off online harassment with the strict new legislation. We are willing to apply Coppa to protect the privacy of children but are asking the Ftc for clarity. YouTube is again undergoing plans for major policy changes, as their online harassment and child privacy regulations will soon become much more stringent. The video platform seeks to put an end to online bullying and negative words that some people use against others, creating a more fun atmosphere for all. The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) specifically asked YouTube to apply the provisions provided for in the Coppa (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) and they have a few more weeks left to comply. Beginning with the abuse the site makes it clear that content that insults others based on their race gender or sexual orientation will no longer be accepted. No one will be exempted from this rule no matter whether a popular YouTuber or a public official is a large organization. Once the website receives and confirms threatening messages in posts they will immediately delete them thus putting the person on the watchlist as well. If the same thing happens again the user who violated the policy of the company will be suspended from the YouTube Partner Program which means they will no longer be able to make money from videos on the site. YouTube has sent an open letter to Ftc on the front of implementing the Coppa requirements expressing its uncertainty fears and bewilderment. We are calling for clarifications about what content should be known as “made for children.” This is a vague term used by the Ftc and it could possibly have serious legal implications for YouTube. The company has already paid $170 million in a settlement agreement with the Ftc so from now on they would like to avoid paying a $40k fee per infringing video. The producers are on the side of YouTube on this one, as they would be rolled over to fines for infringing content. For instance, there’s a petition that has already gathered 857k signatures asking the Ftc to rethink Coppa regulations or at least provide some clarity on how they’re going to apply on YouTube! Creators are afraid that Coppa will diminish family-friendly content on the video platform as everyone is afraid to get a fine for violations. At the same time, children would switch to consume content that targets grown-ups, thereby completely bypassing the Coppa and undermining the whole aim.

In addition to this, Nintendo has also filed a lawsuit against the owner and operator of the website “RomUniverse” which offers photos of Nintendo game Rom. The complaint was filed with a federal court in California and the name of the defendant is Matthew Storman.
