Last year in March, Valve released the platform as a way for developers to finance their game while still working out the kinks. Gamers buying into these alpha and beta builds to help spread the word about the game as well as provide direct feedback to developers about what the buyers want more or less of. Previews are not limited to privileged critics any more. We like to think of games and the development of games as resources that expand and evolve with customer engagement and this culture. A number of prominent titles have recently adopted this development model and found much interest in the process Valve wrote on its Early Access FAQ page. Although part one of Broken Age is completely playable without bugs which are not the case for all Early Access games. If you buy into an Early Access product, you buy back into the development process as the game evolves from all its “good and bad” levels. So what the game looks like today might not be the case tomorrow which means constantly installing updates and coping with downtime.
