A consonant between vowels joins the back vowel.

- love -> a – mor
- smoke -> hu – mo

If there are two consonants between vowels, the first consonant joins with the front vowel and the second with the back one.
- high -> high – to
- farm -> great – ha
- field -> field – po
- holy -> holy – to
If both consonants form a consonant group they join the back vowel.

If there are three consonants between vowels, the first two consonants are attached to the front vowel, and the third consonant to the back vowel.

When there are four consonants between vowels, the first two join the previous vowel and the last two, which always constitute a consonant group, to the back vowel.

Voices with prefixes admit two forms of syllabification: separating their component elements or following the previous rules.

A vowel should never be left alone, even if it forms a syllable by itself, at the end of the line.
