The first step to prepare the traditional Agua de Valencia will be make fresh orange juice, squeezing these fruits. We recommend that you make sure that the fruit is ripe and has juice; otherwise you will need countless oranges.

Next, you will need to start add the liquors that the Agua de Valencia contains. On the one hand, you should add cava or semi-dry champagne and, on the other, gin and vodka. It should be noted that some people also add Cointreau to enhance the orange flavor, but if the fruit is natural it is not necessary or recommended.

In reference to the necessary amount of each liquid, it will vary depending on how much Valencia water you want to prepare, but the proportions should be:

  • 2 parts fresh orange juice
  • 2 parts of cava or champagne
  • 1 part vodka
  • 1 part gin
