Her father was killed at four, leaving the family devastated. She moved into her grandmother’s home along with her brother as her mother couldn’t cope with the big loss. The grandmother raised the Trimble siblings. Sometimes, on the radio, she heard Rakim 2Pac and Miles Davis planting the early seeds of music love in her. She moved home in a couple of years, to live with her mother. She never had many school friends, and tended to stay aloof. Then she started to write her own songs and to compose her own tunes to vent her emotions. Dej was also part of a Junior Varsity basketball team. She finally got her high school diploma in 2009. Her songs Detroit vs. All (with Danny Brown Big Sean and Trick-Trick and Eminem Royce da 5’93) and Me U Hennessey (Remix) (with Lil Wayne) both charted on the US RB chart.
