Russian Daniil Medvedev will not participate in the ATP of his city of birth, Moscow. The organization of the Kremlin Cup, which has a men’s and women’s team from October 18 to 24, officially announced its withdrawal.
Medvedev, world No. 2 and US Open champion, said goodbye to the Indian Wells ATP Masters 1000 in the round of 16, after dominating the Bulgarian 6-4 and 4-1 Grigor dimitrov, which went back. This setback kept Serbian Novak Djokovic away from the possibility of contesting the final number one of the season, although he has remained out of the competition since the defeat in New York.
Both could meet again in the Paris ATP Masters 1000 or in the ATP Finals, which have their headquarters in the Italian Turin. In both scenarios Medvedev will defend title. Djokovic has not yet specified what he will do in the final stretch of the season.
