The Brighton has signed this Tuesday to Marc Cucurella after paying the 18 million from his buyout clause what had with him Getafe. The English club does this with the services of the Catalan side (23 years old) but not all the money will end up in the coffers of the Madrid club since, according to the agreement reached in June 2020 with the FC Barcelona, the Barça entity has the right to 10% of what the ‘Geta’ will enter in a future transfer. Thus, 1.8 ‘kilos’ will be entered by Barça.
Cucurella will sign a five-season contract with him Brighton, until 2026, and it becomes the third signing of the English after the incorporation of Enock Mwepu and Kjell scherpen.
13.8 ‘kilos’ in total
Since Cucurella landed at the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum in 2019-20, the Barça will have bagged 13.8 million. In the first campaign, the azulón club paid two ‘kilos’ for the transfer of the lane for a year. At the end of the loan, the Getafe could pay six million in the purchase option that allowed him to have 60% of the rights but finally decided to increase the figure to 10 ‘kilos’ to stay 90%.
Although in the past there was talk of stratospheric offers from the Chelsea out of 30 million, nothing ever crystallized and now the Brighton drop 18 for the silver medalist at the Tokyo Games of which 1.8 will go to Barcelona. ‘Cucu’ never made his debut with the first team culé. In 2018-19, the Eibar he paid two million for the transfer and Barça paid four to get it back after saving his salary.
