Choppy Hair
If you want to keep your long, thick locks, but you’re not up to it, you may need a shag to save you. This provides your hair with structure and great volume and would make your life so much easier. Best For a Round Face
Perfect for Women More than 60

White and absolutely correct! This elegant natural-colored straight bob cut flatters all the ladies out there. What more can you like with it being super stylish and easy to maintain?
Oval Face
All about balance is the secret to complementing an oval face. These bent ends can add hair thickness around your jawline, and the center part prevents your hair from looking too square.

Blunt Bob for Thick Hair
QA with Alex Brock Stylist style creator @ Urban Society Salon in Conway Ar
QA with the designer Hayley Cadden Salon Owner @ Hair Hau5 in West Lothian Scotland How do you explain this look? It’s easy to keep and trendy as well. My client has uneven highlights when she first came to me, so we’ve brightened her up over time. Then, it was rose gold and then we were looking for a white pearl. The suggestions that someone feels about it? I’d suggest to do that overtime! You may love someone else’s look, but when you shorten yourself, you’ll get a shock. This haircut and style is ideal for medium hair densities. Too dense and you may not be able to style it the way your stylist would! If you have a great jawline and great facial features, I would suggest you go for this style.
Straight Cut Bob
QA with Elizabeth Gettys Stylist / Color Expert at the Cincinnati Oh Bang SalonThe length can be brought to the chin for a thinner face depending on one’s face shape or a little further down cutting it to the mid-neck for a more complete face. How would you characterize this look?
Asymmetrical Cut
The cut was made on a girl who came in from her collar bones with hair down past about 2 inches. She needed a short haircut as she found herself in a ponytail all the time pulling her hair back. I gave her something more than a bob, so we did an asymmetric bob with her left side about 2 inches shorter than her right. We gave her a few long layers and thinned her hair a little so that it wouldn’t be so straight as she had a lot of hair! I also added a few cute side swept bangs to curl her hair with a 1-inch curling iron on both sides of her face and then broke the curls by combing my finger! The suggestions that someone feels about it? After that, I’d use a textured spray to give it a more headboard and a quick look! R+Co Trophy is amazing! It would be perfect for this haircut on thick and thin hair and someone with a small face!

For Really Thick Curly Hair
How would you characterize this look? This form is all about creating space and completeness to transfer the natural texture. I love the natural texture, and the trick is to give it enough controlled chaos to make it harmonious. In its natural state, this cut was made dry. Internally, I reduced the weight and thorough lengths around the neck. I styled with SaSaCurl Flaxseed Defining Serum and Wella Boost Bounce Mousse as these products work well on wavy s to improve the texture and add shine to the skin. I used to clean a diffuser. The suggestions that someone feels about it? For someone with wavy-curly s, this is a great style. It’s low maintenance, and it can be a form of washing and going. For wavy s, I recommend to hydrate and describe the surface with a serum and mousse. If you love your naturally wavy curly or kinky hair and you haven’t already got a dry cut customized to your style, you’ll get one!
Bob
AngledThe formula used is 75% GreyGoldwell (40ml 20 vol 20ml 5Nn 10ml 7RrBalayage with Silklift and 20 vol and 8Gb and 9Kg Overlay) I used Monat smoothing shampoo and conditioner as well as Monat Blow out crème to style it. Then I used a 1 1/4 inch barrel curling iron after blow drying and curled the top sections in opposite directions leaving the ends of the hair out of the iron to create more of a wave than a curl. Finally I finished it with Amika Undone texture spray for texture and Kms dry wax for holding and separation. The good thing about a bob is that on almost all face shapes and s it looks nice. You want to make sure you bring it to the right length when considering face shape. Someone with a rounder head, for example, would want to hold the distance past their chin and try to add height to the back to create the illusion of an elongated face shape. Someone with a longer face shape would want to build large something with more layers to complete their face. The suggestions that someone feels about it? I’d say something with less layers that is easier to smooth or curl if you like a lower maintenance look. If you like to have fun with styling, try something more edgier or perhaps something more asymmetrical or stacked in the back! Products required for such a style would be a smooth paste to look more polished or a textured spray or dry wax to look more wavy. For any hairstyle, dry shampoo is always a must!
Deep Side Part
Creator QA Charlie Brigitte Lawless Freelance Hairstylist in New Jersey New York How would you describe this look? It’s a low maintenance feel! She has thick hair with a slight wave, so if she wears it straight or normal, this haircut will float. On almost all s but especially thick skin, long layers with a slight face frame flatter. Knowing where to take the weight out of the hair so the cut is flattering and grows well is important for the stylist. The suggestions that someone feels about it? Styling creams can help to tame wild hair and make it much easier to blow dry. Fortunately, this cut will also look wonderful unstyled because the shape flatters all the shapes of the face and the texture of the hair. How would you characterize this look?
Chin Length Thick Wavy Hair
Hannah has very thick hair and she’s got hair down to her hips before I met her! She is extremely trendy and cool, but that’s just not what her hair showed! So we’ve made this fun cut that’s a messy asymmetric bob textured. This break is extremely low maintenance, unexpectedly. It looks so cute, straight or curly, but when it’s big messy and wavy, I personally love the look it has! The suggestions that someone feels about it? Because the length in the back gets pretty short, I would suggest this cut if you have a straight / slightly wavy texture of your hair unless you are able to straighten the bottom anytime you style it!The formula used is 75% GreyGoldwell (40ml 20 vol 20ml 5Nn 10ml 7RrBalayage with Silklift and 20 vol and 8Gb and 9Kg Overlay) I used Monat smoothing shampoo and conditioner as well as Monat Blow out crème to style it. What I love about colors is how they blend seamlessly into each other, leaving their hair to look super bright and soft. I also love the way I left her with a bold hair cut, but inverted layering loads to improve the shape and reduce all the weight. I like the way I swept her hair into a new style showing her haircut sharpness leaving her with a weightless textured cut. Any advice that someone thinks about it? I’d just cut somebody with thick and unmanageable hair like this to remove the weight and leave a softer shape to keep it balanced as it grows out. With the right hairdresser, almost anyone could carry this look. This hair style is perfect for those busy customers who can’t even wait for a simple back comb. L’oreal mythical shampoo oil mask (thick hair) for 5 minutes I left the mask to rehydrate her hair. Loreal mythical oil serum I only have 4 small pumps throughout her hair that give her maximum heat protection up to 230 degrees. Loreal mythical oil blow-drying lotion I applied it to the ends in order to smooth the frizz and maintain a controlled look. So I finished with a beautiful Techni Art shower to leave this brilliant finish.
QA with Joan Osterberg Hairstylist style creator @ The Muskegon Tish Mi How would you describe this look? With lots of texture, this haircut is effortless. I love how the natural growth pattern of the layers flows. I recommend this look for anyone with any texture or thickness of hair if you love short minimalist low maintenance hair. Do not work with them to counteract the growth patterns and use limited goods. I achieved this look with a little Davines It’s a Sea Salt Mist before and just shifting her hair with my hands to create motion a little after a dry blast.
Hairstylist Maura Jannetta Hairstylist Salon Owner @ Salon Fiber in Phoenixville Pa How would you describe this look? This look would be described as a cross between a lob and an updated haircut shag. I love how attractive the form of the bang is on the face and how simple shaping can be if the wearer embraces its natural texture. It’s a fun and modern look like that! The suggestions that someone feels about it? If you are considering this look, I suggest drying air with some sea salt spray that has been used to create natural texture. If you want more volume, you can just blow the roots dry. Then take a 1-inch curling iron or wand and wrap random pieces around it to polish the hair and create the waves. My favorite part of this look is that it didn’t take out any texture or weight. Through adding lots of soft layering around the head and long layers through the back, we welcomed the fullness and simply took the weight off. The suggestions that someone feels about it? You have to think about how taking weight out makes it more frizzy when it comes to long, thick hair if it’s not done right. Thick layered hair, when it’s done right, isn’t always a battle.
Face-framing Cut

QA with Rosie Pieternelle Hairstylist design designer @ Mark Garrison Salon in New York Ny How would you characterize this look? This is a face-framing cut of long hair with many layers. My favorite thing about it is that depending on the situation, this hairstyle can be styled either wavy or normal. The suggestions that someone feels about it?
Grunge Chic
QA with style designer Justine Hair Designer @ Z Place Salon Spa in Kennewick Wa I’d describe this look as this year’s grunge chic trendy trend. My favorite thing about the hue is the willingness of my guest to seek as she wants various pastel tones. The appeal of pastels now is that the hair looks the more faded they get the more fashion-forward. The cut provides versatility to her styling. She may wear it with a smooth texture tucked behind an ear or pushed back from the front. The suggestions that someone feels about it? This is a color of high maintenance, requiring more attention to the end of the guest. They have to come to the salon every four to five weeks for a retouch. There is a point where, instead of routine maintenance, the system becomes a task again. I always inform my guests that this form of dual process service has to be done slowly and that they have to dedicate themselves to using Aveda’s Damage Remedy line at home to make sure the hair is safe. Healthy hair helps my guests to switch more often their hair color. Don’t put your customer in a bag, but be frank about what’s practical about the color cut and the maintenance for your guest. We would thank you for this. After all, we are the experts and it is our responsibility to maintain our perfect and life-changing healthy hair.
I used the Montibello Complete Plus Cream and Volume Roots Up to dry the hair to create this look. I was done with Fudge Head Shine and Skyscraper Hairspray.
Side-Swept Fringe layers
How would this look be described? This is a medium-length layered haircut with a side-swept fringe complemented by a gentle ombrage to create a smooth transition from dark to light. The suggestions that someone feels about it? This look is extremely versatile and is a good addition to most face shapes. It has a lot of texture that makes it easy to wear or just leave alone to clean. For someone with thicker hair, the trim works best, and the long fringe flatters for a prominent forehead or someone who has gray around the hairline and needs to extend their color a little longer. The color transitions from a darker root to a lighter end that makes it great for the person who can’t get into the salon very often for a long time between coloring services. With a soft hold styling mousse for the hair, this look can be produced and styled with a 1 1/2-inch barrel curling iron leaving the ends out for loose lived-in curls that will last for days. Warm Balayage Waves
QA with Whitney Lee Hair Artist style creator @ Salon Seven Twenty in San Antonio Tx How would you describe this look? The suggestions that someone feels about it? For anyone with thicker darker hair looking to go into their first balayage, this is a great start. It is a realistic goal plus it offers less maintenance by working with the natural color of the customer and blending the hand-painted color into the root of the customer. It is definitely a style of color that looks best on medium to long hair. When styled with loose body waves, balayage still looks best. Use a color-friendly shampoo and conditioner to make sure the color lasts longer. And I’m a huge fan of all the Amika and Kenra goods for the fun beach waves.
Versatile Caramel Lob
QA with Ame Putman Hairstylist at Dulce Vida Salon in Poway Ca How would you describe this look? My best description of this look would be timeless and flexible. My favorite thing about this look is it’s just as it’s described. It is flexible because it is wearable, especially for women with thicker hair, for almost anyone. The lob haircut thick hair is really suitable for all women, making it a timeless and classic style that has evolved over the past few decades. Versatile, easy hair is a way for women to always feel sexy and put together. My ultimate goal is to make everyone feel sexy at the salon with hair they can style and keep at home!70s Vibe
QA with Sarah English Hairstylist / Owner style Ca How would you describe this look? My favorite thing about it is how some beachy waves or air dried with some material in it can be worn smoothed out. The suggestions that someone feels about it? For anyone considering haircuts for thick wavy hair that requires some kind of style, I suggest this look. It removes weight by adding to any hairstyle movement and texture. It also looks great with it being pulled back holding down and around your head a few layered bits. Even while wearing it, you’ll always have a cool look! We scanned caramel bits around her head for this client and then gave her lots of layers to blend from the fringe down. We used a smoothing cream to help blow dry and reduce frizz for styling and added Boosta Spray from Unite for a small body when drying fly. Instead I went back to smooth some flyaways with Unite’s Argan Oil and made it a loose beachy wave. We’ve finished to allle with a spray wax and give the lived-in feel. You can still use a smoothing cream andargan oil if you want to air dry but apply a little sea salt or beach spray to improve the texture. Razor Cut
QA with fashion designer Amy Bennett Master Stylist @ Headlines The Encinitas Salon Ca How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite? What items would you suggest for this look to be preserved and recreated? I advise to grit a sea salt spray before drying the blow and finish with a molding paste. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? Anyone with a wee bit of attitude can wear this look and play up or down can be worn. It can be a mohawk or a more organic chill look depending on the finished product.
QA with Marsona Horan Salon Owner / Hairstylist @ Marsona Horan Salon in Fairfield Ct How would you describe this look and your favorite thing about it? Even and even more! Such layers are suitable for any form of the head.Sleek Hairstyle for Thick Hair
QA with fashion designer Wendy Portillo Hairstylist Color Specialist @ The Orange Plaza Salon Ca How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it? What products do you recommend for this look to be maintained and recreated? I suggest using a heat-protective weightless volume shine serum and a mild hairspray keep for this look. These Aveda products were specifically used by me: Brilliant Damage Control Phomollient Light Elements Smoothing Fluid and Air Control Hairspray. I used a medium round brush to style this look, but a paddle brush will work as well. We did the flat iron, but it may not be required depending on that. What kind of customer would you recommend this look for? To customers with thin to medium hair, I suggest this look. I honestly believe that this looks great in all the shapes of the face and fits well into a busy lifestyle. It is perfect for professionals who are on the move in the mornings with not much time to spare.
QA with> Salon One19 and Spa in Leawood Ks How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite? What products do you recommend for this look to be maintained and recreated? I always think it’s important to start and build from there with a good foundation in your products. I love using Loréal Professional Sleek and Swing to defend against heat and smooth the hair when creating volume. It leaves the hair glittering and shiny! I enjoy using a dry finishing spray to finish my designs. This makes it possible for me to set the style without making the hair feel dry or crunchy. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? This cut is great for medium to thick hair customers with moderate to moderate texture. For this type, long and round facial shapes are not suitable.
Subtle Bob
‘
QA with Margaret Cunningham Senior Stylist at Artà © Salon Spa in Wayland Ma How would you describe this look and what is your favorite? My favorite trend right now is to use a 1 1/4-inch curling iron to create waves instead of tight curls. This is the busy woman’s easy on – the-go hair! What items would you suggest for this look to be preserved and recreated? In the shower, the key to a good style begins. For L’Oreal B6 Biotin we washed and conditioned. We then used Dual Stylers for volume with a velvety smooth finish by Techni.art Liss and Pump-up (also by L’Oreal). I finished the look with a little hairspray and Kevin Murphy Shimmer. Shine! What kind of customer would you recommend this look for? This cut and style can be done on many different hair types and densities, but I wouldn’t recommend it to a messy rough customer unless she’s fantastic with her dry blow and straightening equipment. Any woman on the go has the best style. It never looks like it has lost its feel as it loosens through the day by getting waves instead of curls. The layers take weight out and add movement to create the texture that’s all the rage right now!

On the sides and in the back, this haircut is short. The back is cut in a way that highlights the head’s roundness, giving it a perfectly feminine profile. The top is layered as long as it starts in the back shorter and gets to the front quickly longer.
