This fantasy starring James Stewart and Donna Reed in 1946 has gone down in history as one of the greatest films ever made despite poor success at the box office. It only goes to show that, over time, true classics are made.

While it might seem as though we are living in the age of remakes, they have always been prevalent in Hollywood, especially in Christmas movies. Disney did just that with the Keanu Reeves musical from Technicolor in 1961.

The 1990s: ‘ Home Alone ‘

This is where things really start to get interesting. The 1990s was basically a feast of incredible holiday material for so many of us. But in the coming decades few movies made quite the impact on our society as a reboot was just declared in the 1990’s.

The first decade of this century has had so many great Christmas movies. And while romance has always been a part of most holiday entertainment, the explosion of romantic Christmas comedy was a significant contribution of the ‘ 00s. Yeah, it’s very hard to narrow down which was really the best but considering its many shortcomings, given the incredible cast and cultural impact we will have to tip our hats to 2003’s Love Actually.
