According to the ruling of the court of appeal, Apple can proceed separately with its appeal of the original verdict while the trial of damages continues as scheduled. Last month Apple had received a temporary relief to make its case for a stay of the pending damages trial. The plaintiffs — who have never been given U.S. class status for suing as a party. District Judge Denise Cote — is liable under antitrust law for damages of up to $840 million. Judge Cote will however determine the final amount of damages paid at a trial scheduled for July 14. Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott are spearheading the states case as reported by Reuters. We are pleased with the decision and continue to prepare for the upcoming damages trial said a spokesperson for Jepsen according to Reuters . Last year Judge Cote ruled that Apple breached antitrust laws when it conducted a price-fixing scheme with CBS (NYSE: CBS) Simon Schuster; Lagardere SCA’s Hachette Book Group Inc.; News Corp. (NASDAQ: NWS) (NASDAQ: NWSA) HarperCollins; Pearson Plc’s (NYSE: PSO) Penguin Group; and Holtzbrinck Publishers LLC (doing as Macmillan.) In her decision on the original e-book trial, Judge Cote noted that after the price-fixing scheme took place some e-book rates soared from $9.99 to as high as $14.99. Before 2010 Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) was dominating the market by selling e-books at a standard price of $9.99. But Apple reportedly increased the average retail price of e-books by negotiating with multiple publishers the use of exclusive agency model contracts. @ArnoldEtan WSCS)

How Many Films Will Marvel Studios Release Per Year?

Robert Yaniz Jr.

Avengers’ record-breaking success: EndgameIron Man, and Captain America. So whatever comes next does have the pressure of serving as a kind of soft reboot for the MCU. For Cap and Iron Man coming out of the picture helping heroes will rise and emerge new ones. Finding out where it’s all going — a la the Infinity Saga three-phase — will be part of the audience fun. But it also means there’s a lot of work ahead for the MCU. In that regard, Marvel Studios will probably start to lay the groundwork for the next Thanos-level threat, and Captain Marvel will not just make himself. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Marvel Studios (@marvelstudios) on August 24, 2019 at 10:34am PDT Which fans can expect to start in Phase 4 For some time the roadmap for Phase 4 and beyond was largely covered in mystery. Sure Marvel Studios Chairman Kevin Feige detailed the developments that fans might hope to see in 2020 and 2021. But there was no obvious grand design for all the fans. The explanation why? Marvel Studios are now starting to kick into a higher gear. In a recent interview with Disney’s creative chief creative officer and co-chairman The Hollywood Reporter Alan Horn announced that Feige will start producing “three or four” movies a year. Horn’s inability to commit itself concretely to four films a year sounds more like a testament to the operation of Marvel Studios than anything else. After all the fans — and Disney shareholders — will be able to expect every single quarter a new Marvel Studios update. This is a high order, taking into account the scale of these productions, which requires time to achieve. Even though the plan may be to ramp up to four movies per year, Marvel Studios will probably not be able to do so until 2021. Next year on the big screen brings Black Widow and Eternals alongside Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The last project is the first of many series expected to reach the streaming service in the coming few years. In 2021 Marvel Studios will truly begin to turn up the heat with its four-film annual schedule. Thor: Love and Thunder are all currently due for release that year. The next year is somewhat more turbid. Ant-Man 3, just confirmed, maybe Deadpool 3. Might we see The Defendersthe Fantastic Fouror X-Men soon? All we can say right now is “maybe.” It is an excellent time to be a fan of the MCU with four films out each year.

The Best (and Worst) Thanksgiving Films of All Time

James Tison More Articles 3/3.1202 3/3.1202 Planes Trains and Automobiles Paramount Pictures Thanksgiving is a weird freaking holiday. Like Columbus Day it represents a landmark in America’s systemic colonization. But, unlike Columbus Day “where all you have to do is not go to work on a Monday” Turkey Day “allows everyone in the country to gather their families around a giant dead bird (which ends up dry no matter how much you baste it) while some drunk uncle argues over Reaganomics with some distant cousin. It’s no wonder that the Thanksgiving films vary so wildly in quality: Any film whose subject matter is mired in troubled American history and connecting with the family that first made you travel across the country will be a complicated affair. Several directors and screenwriters took up this topic with aplomb seeking satire and humanity under one of America’s most firmly rooted traditions. Some, let’s just say that they made turkeys. Here are the best and worst of the movies about Thanksgiving. Best: Home For the Holidays (1995)

Directed by Clarice Starling herself (Jodie Foster) Home For The Holidays is one of the most straightforward Thanksgiving Films “in this list, in that it is simply about a woman visiting her family for the holiday (hence the name). It may have been an uber-stereotypical film about a neurotic family ended up becoming a heartfelt and legally amusing experience thanks to Foster’s delicate direction of Holly Hunter’s undeniably adorable performance and a stellar supporting cast (led by a young Robert Downey Jr. in the pre-Tony Stark days). It definitely feels like a 90s movie but since when is that a bad thing?

Best: Addams Family Values (1993) If Home For the Holidays is this list’s most obvious choice, then Addams Family Values is definitely the least. While most of the movie is mostly about Joan Cusack wooing marrying and ultimately trying to murder Uncle Fester one of the most memorable parts of this sequel is the Thanksgiving play that the Addams children are forced to perform in at summer camp. In true Addams fashion Wednesday and Pugsley stage a violent coup against their camp counselor overlords in the middle of the play (making it a Thanksgiving movie in the process). Why do they put on a Mid Summer Thanksgiving play? I have literally no idea but I can t help but love it.

Best: Planes Trains and Cars (1987)

A Speedbump Ahead for Ford s Stock?

Further Articles 31 March 2013 3/3.1203 Source: http:/www.flickr.com/photos/hansel5569/ Some late coverage has been positive about a recent litigation involving the number-two U.S. automaker. Will Ford be able to swerve away from this bump in the road with recalls and bad press going its way? Details of the report shed light on the problem. Apparently acceleration issues — yes similar to the recent billion-dollar fiasco of Toyota (NYSE:TM) – have led customers to believe their cars are worth considerably less than they paid for them. The class-action suit not only alleges widespread problems across various Ford manufacturers and models in 14 states; most damningly it argues that Ford knew about the defects and yet pushed out their vehicles in hopes of the best. Ford mouthpieces swiftly refuted the report and pointed to work they ve done with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to resolve the issue with its cars. Citing the work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts Ford vigorously challenged the claims of the suit in the NHTSA results. This approach has the potential to either backfire or make the firm look better for investors looking for stock to retain its value. If Ford does have a widespread problem on its hands, it could threaten stagnation after the vehicle manufacturer is primed for success. Its profit margins beat those of rival General Motors (NYSE:GM) and the release of fuel-efficient SUVs and industry-leading hybrids made for good press and sales. When Toyota learnt a negative public image, all of its goodwill could be lost overnight. NEW! Discover a new stock idea each week for less than the cost of 1 trade. CLICK HERE for your Weekly Stock Cheat Sheets NOW! Ford could potentially get past this lawsuit by proving it had addressed the problem and settling on classes where the vehicles were clearly sold for more than their value. However it would be devastating to have a public relations fiasco involving a company-wide cover-up. Shareholders should hope the latter doesn t prove to be true. In the meantime investors will want to see how the case progresses before considering adding Ford to a portfolio. Another lesson from Toyota: when facing recalls and defects it doesn t mean the end of the world.

Why 2 Brilliant Lennon-McCartney Songs Never Made It Onto ‘ Sgt. Pepper’

Eric Schaal More Articles When it comes to the Beatles’ landmark A Day in the Life ”coming through open windows all summer long. But work on the record began much earlier. Following the Beatles’ final tour in the summer of ’66 the band took a much-needed break and met up in the studio with plans to try something completely different. For starters it meant creating music they could only play in a studio (as opposed to a stage). And they ‘d spend as much time as it took to get it right. If that meant going for two weeks on a single song that didn’t faze them. However Beatles manager Brian Epstein wanted to keep the cash flowing as it had in previous years. When John Lennon and Paul McCartney produced masterpieces early in the Sgt. Pepper sessions saving them for the album seemed pointless. So Epstein sent them out together as an epic single.

But that was, in a nutshell, Brian Epstein and given the wild success he’d had with the Fab Four, his methods were no second-guessed. Thus Martin packed two of John and Paul’s greatest songs ever recorded. We went out in February ‘ 67, as a “double A-side” single.

The two tracks will make ‘ Sgt. An absolute epic for Pepper.

3/3.1205 3/3.1205 Martin, who has never erred with The Beatles on his long run, knew exactly what he could do with Epstein. “I decided to give him a super-strong combination of a double-punch that couldn’t fail an unbeatable link between two great all-time songs: STRAWBERRY Fields Forever and STRAWBERY Road. “When he performed” Strawberry Fields “in the studio on John’s first day, he knocked out band and producer alike. As soon as he heard the opening notes, the band’s sound engineer called “a masterpiece” And “Penny Lane” was about equal to that. The double single “Penny Lane” and “Strawberry Fields” reached No. 1 in America and No. 2 in the UK with their mark rocketing. We also came up to this day with promotional videos that remain fun. So everything in Beatleland was right again when it came to business. It’s still somewhat surprising that these two songs on Sgt. Pepper did not make it. Although the album is rightly praised as an industry-altering release, it would have achieved a different level if it featured “Penny Lane” and “Strawberry Fields” instead of saying “Good Morning Good Morning” and “She’s Going Home.” John Lennon, speaking with Playboy’s David Sheff in 1980, pushed back on the way that Sgt. Pepper was perceived over the years. “The first concept album is called Sgt. Pepper but it doesn’t go anywhere” he said. “This idea of Sgt. Pepper and his band has absolutely nothing to do with all my contributions to the album; but it works ‘ because we said it did. ‘ The Paul McCartney Revolver Songs That Even John Lennon Raved About
