Sling Tv Update Comes First To Roku AppByNitish Singh-March 17, 2018.793 Sling Tv introduces new features and updates to the Roku platform. Other platforms will get the new features but an official date has yet to be given by the Ott company. Sling Tv is coming out with a new update and its Rokuapp is set to hit first. The Ott streaming service revealed this Tuesday March 13 that they will roll out new features over the next few weeks. Other channels are going to get them as well but in due time. .794 Figure 1 Image Courtesy of iMore The option to update programming packages from within the software would be to tackle the new features that have been introduced as the most important one. Previously, if consumers wanted to watch a channel they weren’t subscribed to, they had to update their subscription to the official Sling Tv website and then experience the channel’s content on the device. Now all of this can be done from within the app by implementing the new “d Channels More” option under My Tv section. Also changed to the in-app navigation system. Pressing the “plus sign” on the Roku remote opens up a revised Micro Guide that allows users to search in less screen space across multiple channels. The remote down button will activate the complete guide that now shows more detail and features improved navigation layouts. Sling Tv also took Netflix’s signals and a similar system suits their on-demand content segment. Next episodes won’t automatically start playing but instead pulls up a dialog box asking you to start the next episode. Likewise, a dialog box will pop up to confirm your purpose when you press the exit button, so no more unintended exits. Still coming out other than these more apps. These will henceforth be exclusive to the Roku app and no official notice has been given as to when other platforms will gain access to the apps.
