CEO Moonves was an actor before he started his career as a television network. He made his acting debut in the Barbary Coast TV series in 1975. In the episode titled Guns for a Queen he played the role of a bell boy. He then appeared on the television shows Cannon Gemini Man The Six Million Dollar Guy and The Nanny. As a producer, Moonves also has one credit. He was the producer of the 1996 TV film Blue Rodeo. In 1981, Moonves started his career as a manager at Saul Ilson, creating The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. He was employed at Fox later. Moonves previously worked with Lorimar and Warner Brothers Television production firms. He went on to CBS in 1995. When it came to ratings the network lagged behind. Since adding shows like Big Brother CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Survivor and Everybody Loves Raymond to his schedule, CBS climbed to first place under his leadership.

Moonves was inducted into the Hall of Fame and Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame Television Academy. He has won awards from the American Publicists Association of America’s Casting Society and PGA Awards. Controversy
An article was published in The New Yorker in July 2018. It was later announced that Moonves would step down from his position as CBS Corporation’s chairman and CEO. After the allegations surfaced, Moonves wife Julie Chen made a statement on Twitter and on her daytime show The Chat. Chen announced that she would be standing by her husband, and that she would support him. I’ve known my husband Leslie Moonves since the late 1990s and have been married to him for nearly 14 years, Chen said on Twitter. . He got a salary of around $3.5 million per annum. But his salary also rose along with equity earnings and bonuses. According to Salary.com he paid $69.3 million in 2017. $20 million of that was earned as a bonus. Moonves signed a contract to continue at CBS until June 2021, in May 2017. Company filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission show a $180-million severance package if Moonves quit the company without cause.
