Flag of Brazil: meaning and image
Based on the old flag of the Empire of Brazil, the most recent edition of the flag of this country contemplates 27 stars representing all the states of Brazil. This adaptation of the flag of yesteryear designed by Jean-Baptiste Debret in 1820 was the work of the members of the Positivist Church composed of Raimundo Teixeira, Migual Lemos and Manuel Pereira Reis.
But to further expand your knowledge, we tell you that the blue disk of the flag represents the sky of Rio de Janeiro, specifically that of the morning of November 15, 1889. This day is fundamental for the entire nation, because at that time the Republic of Brazil was established. From then on, the number of stars was modified as more states began to form.
On the other hand, the flag of Brazil is made up of a green rectangle that serves as a base for a yellow rhombus to stand in the middle. If you look closely, you will see that the illustration is made as if it were seen from space; that is, it is the image of the globe in its entirety, together with the 27 white stars that represent the states. Crossing the sky in the middle, we find a white stripe that refers to the Equator of the world. Within that line you can identify the words “Order and Progress” which, in Spanish, means “Order and Progress”.

Coat of arms of Brazil: meaning and image
Like the flag of Brazil, its shield was established in 1889. This porta various objects or banners with different representations but it should be noted that, after Decree No. 34, on November 19 of the year mentioned above, the shield began to be characterized by having a celestial circle with stars similar to that of the flag. On the other hand, the National Seal of Brazil is identical to the blue sphere with stars of the flag.
The National Shield of Brazil is made up of a sword that refers to goodness and also has a circumferential shield of azure blue color, the already limited one, which brings with it the constellation of the Southern Cross. The outline of the sphere is composed of 27 white stars that symbolize the 27 current states of the country and, in the background, you can see a huge star that represents the federal union of Brazil with yellow and green colors.
The legend that can be read at the bottom of the shield reads the following: “República Federativa do Brasil”, an inscription that appeared on February 22, 1968 to replace an older one that said “United States of Brazil”.
If we continue talking about the shield, we must mention the plants that are positioned on each side of the star. At the extreme right we can see the plant species known as tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum). In the opposite direction, to the left, we find the coffee plant (Coffea); both this and the other species represent the two prime products of the Brazilian country that, to date, continues to be one of the main exporters.
