Where can I travel from today?

The week expected by many begins. Since May 9, Spain leave behind the state of alarm, the legal umbrella that the autonomous communities have used to implement measures and restrictions to stop the covid. From now on, each region establishes its own rules, although for some it needs the endorsement of the courts of justice.

This is the case of measures that affect the fundamental rights of citizens, such as movement rights: curfew nocturnal and perimeter closure communities, who did not allow entry or exit from the territory without a justified reason. But, without the state of alarm, mobility changes. And a lot.

Justice has not supported the curfew in all communities. It is only maintained in the Balearic Islands, the Valencian Community and Navarra. On the other hand, the courts have overturned the limitation to night mobility in the Canary Islands. The latter has already announced that it will appeal to the Supreme Court (TS), which will now have to unify criteria. In the case of Catalonia, the TSJC has endorsed the limitation of six people in meetings and social gatherings.

Most regional executives have opted for rules in capacity and schedule s. In the case of Catalonia, bars and restaurants may open until 11:00 pm. On Madrid, until 00:00 hours.

Can I travel to any community?

Since May 9, the free movement throughout Spain, after months restricted to contain the coronavirus pandemic. Now, without justified reason, we can travel to any community: from Madrid to Barcelona or from the Basque Country to Andalusia.

In the case of Balearics, the Government has agreed to maintain controls for the entry of travelers from other autonomous communities or cities. These controls are on the reason for the trip and assume that travelers must present a PDIA with a negative result or undergo an antigen test on arrival, a PCR within 48 hours or maintain a quarantine of 10 days. The tests are paid by the community in the case of residents or people traveling with just cause, and by the passengers themselves if they do not travel for one of the justified reasons.

On Canary Islands, the system is similar. When a passenger arrives from another region of the national territory, they must deliver a certificate of a negative test at the checkpoints established for this purpose by the Ministry of Health at the Canarian airports that receive domestic flights.
