Varane explains his reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo

French defender Raphaël Varane explained his reunion with Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United after the stage they shared at Real Madrid between 2011 and 2018.

Varane, who came to United in the last transfer market in exchange for 50 million euros, said it is a “pleasure” to play again with Cristiano, who also arrived at Old Trafford in August to start his second spell at the club.

“If he continues at the same level at his age it is not by chance. He is an example. It is great to be able to work, play and be with him. As we well know, he is made to win, to score goals, so it is better to have him with us” said Varane in an interview with Téléfoot.

“We know the aura he has. He is an incredible professional. It is better that he plays for us than against him,” insisted Varane.

Cristiano, in the three games he has played for United on his return to Old Trafford, has scored four goals, two against Newcastle United, one against Young Boys and one against West Ham.
