How to do the pineapple and chicken diet
In this diet, which has many variants, the core is always the same: consume pineapple at every meal of the day and restrict the intake of other foods as much as possible, especially with regard to carbohydrates. The exception is proteins, for which chicken is added to the menu, rich in these and low in fat and carbohydrates.
It would be possible to substitute chicken for low-fat fish or another protein food such as eggs, but in this version we will focus on pineapple and chicken, the most popular variant.
Menu example
A common menu of the pineapple and chicken diet might look like this:
• Breakfast: black coffee without sugar, skimmed yogurt and two slices of natural pineapple.
• Midmorning: cooking water from pineapple peel, or an infusion without sugar.
• Lunch: three slices of pineapple with 200 grams of grilled chicken breast.
• Afternoon snack: skimmed yogurt or a pineapple slice.
• Dinner: same as at lunch.
This diet should be continued drinking at least 2 liters of water a day, and never extend for more than 3 days.
Does the pineapple diet help you lose weight?
Pineapple is a diuretic foodTherefore, when taken in large quantities for three days, a cleansing and diuretic effect is achieved in that a large amount of fluid retained in the body is eliminated.
This, accompanied by the low caloric intake of the diet, in which there are hardly any fast sugars, means that around 3-4 kilos can be lost in the three days, although it is important to stay active so that the body does not lower its metabolism.
Contraindications of the pineapple and chicken diet
Since almost everything that is lost is liquid, if the lifestyle is not changed, the rebound effect it will be fast and forceful. The drastic decrease in available energy slows down the metabolism and can lead to loss of muscle mass, the main consumer of energy at rest, so that after the diet the base metabolism will be even lower than before and you could reach regain more weight than lost.
In addition, it is a diet not at all recommended for athletes, since doing physical exercise without available carbohydrates causes weakness and can cause dizziness and accidents, especially for the less accustomed.
Remember that, as in almost all miracle diets, you can’t burn fat, which is one of the last energy resources of the body, but forces the elimination of retained fluids. This, which can be good in the right conditions, can cause a very fast and marked rebound effect if, after the diet, the eating and physical exercise habits are not modified, simply by returning to those of before.
