Modern Femme Fatale

Instagram How are you going to describe this look and what is your favorite? The look I created is more of a modern take on the roll of victory with the placement of the roll, but with the silhouette it still has a classic feel. T his style was amazing and I really enjoyed making it. The look creates interest from every angle with the combination of smooth volume with the rolls coupled with the low pony. What tricks or items to recreate this look are you recommending? Make sure you use the bobby pins correctly when creating this look (ridges down on the scalp) because only a few are needed to secure this look. Make sure they’re well hidden! Clean sectioning offers a smooth and polished look. What kind of customer would you recommend this look for? The great thing about retro hairstyles, though most are easier to create with longer hair, is that you can find one that fits every face shape and hair form. These looks may seem a little labor-intensive as far as a daily style is concerned, but the more you practice the easier it gets. I recommend that anyone with a holiday or New Year’s Eve party look at this look. It really brings the drama so dress up my wife’s fatals accordingly!

Smooth Finger Waves

Instagram QA with Houston TX Hairstylist Makeup Artist How do you explain this look and what is your favorite? These are the clean waves of the hand. This look has a very old style of Hollywood / Veronica Lake/1940. I love the dry waves of my finger that surround the side of my face. For a very sexy and desirable look, it really brings out the eyes and lips. First of all, create a great base. I used Aquage Uplifting Mousse, but the root gel spray could do the job as well. I then misted the hair lightly with a heat-protective (Aquage Beyond Body) that builds the body and holds the medium. I also like the Working Spray of Sebastian. I used Hot Tools ‘ 1 1/2-inch curling wand to create the curls. My pin curls are tied to cool from the top of the ears and up. I did half down on the base and the rest of the base pin curls. The trick is to continue the bottom-up release of the curls. Use a thorough cream to smooth out any flyaways and then pull away the curl gradually without disrupting the shape of the curl. Bring the sections softly together to marry the finger wave sections and taunt gently so you get a finger wave effect. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? With this style, long or medium hair in longer layers looks best. Short hair with wet finger waves looks best fitted. How would you characterize this look and what’s your favorite? I’d characterize it with a modern twist as a vintage-inspired look. My favorite thing about this look is that at the top of her head the secret pin curl swirls. What tricks or items to recreate this look are you recommending? I would use a thermal protecting to prepare the hair to recreate this look (I used Beauty Pinups ‘ Fever). I used a 3/4-inch curling iron (I love the 3/4-inch Spring Curling Iron from Babyliss). I twisted the parts in horizontal sections in the back and separated her hair into a deep part. I curled up the pieces on the side with the slight roll of victory. On the other hand, the hair was twisted down in sections with the most volume / hidden pin curl. I brushed it out after allowing the curl set to cool for 15 minutes before I got the back to curl down and set it with R+Co’s Flexible Hairspray Outerspace. Eventually, with Suavecita Pomade, I smoothed the front and finished with R+Co’s Flexible Hairspray Outerspace. The hair with a tiny curling iron and a heat-protective put it in a short curl. Tease the front into two parts, mold one side into a forward-facing winning roll and the other side into a back-facing barrel position. Use a smooth pomade or wax lightweight and set a compact hairspray. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? This hairstyle is perfect from fine to thick hair for all hair types. Mid-length hair is easiest to replicate this style, but with shorter or longer hair, you can always make a similar version. For any woman who loves to try a outside the box look and someone who appreciates classic styles, this is a hairstyle. For all ages and for any occasion, this is a great look.

Instagram QA with Southampton UK Freelance Hairstylist / Vintage Specialist How would you characterize this look and what’s your favorite? I would characterize this look and brush out as a classic vintage collection. It’s a modern take on a curl of vintage style as it’s more casual and less formal than it originally would have been. To recreate this look, what tips or items do you recommend? It is a must to obtain the best results from a collection of great tools and services. You need a tiny barrel tong to create a strong curl. My preference is from the dial-a-heat set of Babyliss Pro. I think you can’t just beat it. Everyone has their own favorite brushes, but to create this look, I prefer a Denman bristle brush or Spornette Wonder Brush and a comb. Suavacita pomade is great and smells amazing to smooth out frizz and tame the curls into form! I recommend Kenra 25 Volume Hairspray to complete and keep everything in place. It is evidence of windproof humidity and I still have to find a line of items that matches Kenra! What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? For everyone, this look can be. It is adaptable and can be organized more or less depending on the style of the user. It’s possible to set long short fine or thick hair and find out what works best for you. Since all in the brushing out is the final form, there is a design that fits every shape of the head. It is all about equilibrium. It’s fairly high maintenance to wear this style every day and needs setting up every few days for most but get your set right and it can last up to a week!

Girly

Instagram

After that I swept the rest of my hair into a bun at the crown of my head. The ponytail comes curled and has little combs in it that can attach to the bun. On the ponytail, you pin the combs and close the drawstring. Instead I wrapped it around to give the impression that the ponytail was held together by an elastic. I tied the ponytail all around the bun and wrapped around it a vintage scarf and made a bow. I sprayed all over the hairstyle and around my hairline to sweep up any baby hairs and voila! What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? This look will work for anybody, honestly! Since I used a fauxnytail, the look is going to work for anyone with long enough front hair for a roll (at least about chin-length) because it needs to be able to pull it up into some kind of bun. It should really work with any face shape and be flattering because the ponytail placement adds volume to most faces, which is complimentary. This kind of look would be good for Halloween a night out on the town or anything really! Age is not a concern here, either. I know women of all ages who looks all the time blinding in pin up-style. I dress like this every day and I think you’re never really going to need an excuse to dress up and look like your best version.

Hair Makeup Artist Instagram QA How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite about it? The Poodle Do is this photo’s theme. It was recreated by stylist Magic Michael Davids and made stars including Lucille Ball and Betty Grable popular in the 1940s and 1950s. Those were the decades of supreme feminine style in which women would go to the hair salon to get their hair set in curls and dressed up using professional techniques that have been almost lost today. The invention of the straightening iron may have contributed to this. My favorite style about this look, I would have to admit, is that it is unmistakably reminiscent of the glamorous glamor of the old world of stage and screen. The hair is elegantly swept away from the lady’s neck face and nape, and the curls are elegantly dressed with precise precision on top of her head. This style lifts the hair which elongates the head and produces slim lines that end with a dramatic burst of curls. Any diva sporting this style in the past era would be meant to be swept off her feet by an admiring, tall, dark and beautiful man. And they’d both live happily after that, of course. What tips or products do you recommend to recreate this look? The Poodle Do is a very easy hairstyle to achieve as it can be produced from just above the shoulders to the hair that is halfway down the back with most hair types and sizes. It all depends on your ability to handle minimal hair (maybe using a few hair extensions to pad the top out) or long hair (hiding excess hair by overlaying the hair or wrapping it in curls). Starting this style with a classic pincurl collection is always a good thing. This will set the hair in a curl that is important for easily placing the style. You risk having a frizzy messy look without putting your hair in curls. I use a small hot curling iron and I allow the pin curl clips to cool the hair. Sectioning with this hairstyle is also very important. Make sure to section off the top of the hair in a horseshoe shape from temple to temple scooping around the back just below the crown after the hair is curled. Use spray and a bristle brush comb the hair below in sections upwards and pin it tightly to the top section base. Through wrapping the hair around your hands, pick small sections on top of the head teasing the base and making barrel curls. Safe bobby pins for each curl. Use each curl to refine the style so that they work in harmony with each other. Making sure the design is symmetrical is crucial unless you want a feature piece highlighting one side of the face intentionally. Once you’re able to repair the hairspray look with a strong hold. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? This style is ideal for a clientele niche but tucking away in your fashion arsenal is always a good style. Vintage fans pin up beauty girls and burlesque artists as well as people going to costume parties are the customers you’d most likely come across for this theme. Even, drag queens and the underground I Love Lucy — obsessed people from that period who hang on to nostalgia still remain. Either way, designing this theme is great fun and it will come in handy when you least expect it or when you want to embrace the goddess of your inner silver screen. 1 Crimped upside down braid

We used Sebastian’s Shaper Plus hairspray as we set the Kendra Pomade curl to create the look texture and Tease Backcomb for volume in a Bottle by Big Sexy Hair. I used TIGI Hardhead hairspray for the finishing touch to ensure the last look throughout the day and night! Easy long waves with hairstylist

QA Hairstylist On-site How would you characterize this look? This Textured Twist was influenced by this lady’s beautiful purple headpiece. It’s basically a headband that’s why this twist is off-center to demonstrate the elegance of the headpiece and the twist without either intimidating or frustrating. This look is ideal for an elegant winter wonderland wedding or even a Spring or Summertime outdoor beach destination wedding. Such a flexible twist is a perfect look for the sophisticated lady (MOB) or a black-tie bridal theme party (Bridesmaid Bride MOB). Good preparation / curling / teasing and pinning is important like any upstyle. Several volume powder for the crown’s top section along with a nice tease has given us that beautiful weight! Instagram QA with Hertfordshire UK Freelance Special Occasional Hairstylist How would you describe this look? This delicate and feminine soft graduated bob is classy. It was planned on such a special day to make the bride’s mother look and feel stunning. The advice that someone thinks about it? This is a stunning style that perfectly suits the stylish and glamorous female for all occasions and lifestyles. Always perfect for everyday wear is this theme. It can be tucked behind the ears or clipped to one side to give a different look or simply blow dried to give a sexy, strong look. I will tell the customer about three weeks before the big day to make sure they have a good cut of soft highlights. Then she’ll feel comfortable with the look, enabling that little bit of growth while keeping the shape and color new. I should advise the customer on the day to use a small conditioner and then have a good dry blow to ensure the skin and form around the head. When wearing the fascinator, it has to slot into a backcombed hair segment to keep it in place all day long. I suggest using Satin Blowout Balm Alterna Caviar Style to create the perfect style to improve shine and provide excellent heat resistance. It tastes great, too! The Parlux 3200 paired with a selection of Denman round brushes is my favorite hair dryer to use. Enhance this look with a touch of Brilliant Humectant Pomade from Aveda to ensure that the fashion stays in all weather styles. Then, finish with Alterna Caviar Anti Aging Working Hairspray light spray.

This look is the perfect go – to fashion for a bride bride bridesmaid’s mother or even a girl who wants some flirty glamor for that special event. I always make sure that the hair is washed the night before, as this makes the hair easier to manipulate and with products mess up. I used the Osis array from Schwarzkopf here. I prepared Osis Dust’s hair, which is a powder of mattifying volume. I used Osis Freeze for holding while styling, which is a good holding hairspray. I used Osis Sparkler to finish the design, which is a bright spray that leaves the hair (particularly blond) looking healthy and chic. This style was done on fine medium to long hair, but it would also fit on any bob length or longer hair. When frizzy and my hot tip is always curling the hair before any kind of upstyling for extra body, it’s best to smooth the hair. This is particularly important when working with fine hair.

To build this look, you can use a flat iron or medium barrel curling iron / wall. The better the less good! Curl the hair and build tension at the base of the hair in opposite directions. We’re looking for size! The products that I have used and suggest are good heat control products (Chi and Oasis make great ones) and Puff Me by Design Me to add texture and lift to the root area throughout the day. It’s also a perfect re-styler when you find that the hair has dropped a little. Hard Head by Bedhead is my hairspray ride or die and it will keep your look locked throughout the day. This style is perfect for all as there are so many variations on how to wear it. It’s perfect for the short-haired customer who wants nothing standard and who wants to show off their sassy and fun side. This look is flexible in that by adding height to the hair and masking imperfections, it will flatter all face shapes. This style will help to give the appearance of thicker and fuller hair to thin-haired gals. It can also be worn on a younger consumer. It would give it some detail by integrating a headband and adding a youth dimension.
