Gold Ratings

‘The suggestions that someone feels about it? This look can be worn by anyone. The highlights are incorporated gently into the base so they can easily grow out. It doesn’t need a lot of maintenance. That also refers to the cut. We’ve given her a blunt lob with long layers of texture. Facilitated peasy.

Vivid Red Highlights

QA with Nikki Popkow Master Designer MakeUp Artist @ Nikki Popkow Hair and Sherman Oaks Makeup Artistry Ca How would you describe this look? I love these dark hair highlights of Juicy and Vibrant Magenta. One of the cool things I love about this particular look is that my client came in with more than half of her hair growing on it with an old red color at home. I wanted to highlight the foil and scan the hair left out of the foil to give vibration to those ends. I love how color is bursting! The suggestions that someone feels about it? It is always important to bear in mind at-home care with vivid fashion-colored hair. Some colors are fading and some are rapidly disappearing! If you are using a sulfate-free shampoo such as Redken’s Color Extend Magnetics, you will notice that your color will have more life because the pH is balanced so that it does not directly harm the color. Make sure to also refresh your paint with one of Joico’s Paint Butters between trips to the salon. It’s perfect because after 5 minutes it’s a simple software in-shower that rinses off. It will keep you in good shape until the color really needs to be refreshed. This look is not very maintenance-intensive, but it needs some Tlc. Rose Brown Highlights

QA with Amanda Routly Hairstylist style creator @ Angles Hair Aesthetics in Calgary Ab How would you describe this look? I decided not to do more pre-lightening, but to play and work with what existed. I used Shades Eq color gloss which was an absolute priority to protect the quality and dignity of her body. What I love about doing this color was that we both stepped out of our cool blonde tones safe zone and aimed for a rich bright rose brown tone. It’s clear that with her hair even a more professional business woman can have a bit more fun! The suggestions that someone feels about it? She visits the salon every 5-6 weeks to preserve this look for a retouch and glaze for the lengths. While at home, she retains the color with color safe shampoo and conditioner and uses shampoo color depositing once a week to optimize the pigment of the rose. This look is conducive to a lifestyle for anyone committed to amazing hair! Dusty Pink on Short Curly Hair

QA with Gregga Balberan Hairstylist style maker @ This Or The Los Angeles Salon Ca How would you describe this look?QA with Ebony Hammond Hairdresser style maker @ Hair from EbonyEliza in Sydney Nsw How would you describe this look? This is one of my favorite age-friendly timeless hairstyles! It’s a slightly concave shape to create a messy feathered look with strong texture throughout the layers. The colors are perfect as both on the warmer side complement each other. The base color offers a pleasant depth and without overpowering the surface, the foils produce enough lightness throughout. The colors don’t require any bleach that’s another great thing because she’s got pretty thin hair that doesn’t have the strength to have blonde foils. That’s why we went with a soft color of champagne that allows her to feel light without any harm! The suggestions that someone feels about it? For most face shapes, this is a great style. The front can also stay longer for people who are afraid to sacrifice size, allowing them to feel like they have the length even if the back is cut to generate width. This is a color and style that is easy to maintain. It’s as simple to style as scrunching your hair and letting it be natural that’s why my client loves this style! To produce a smooth look, I simply applied a root lift spray to the roots before blowing it with the brush tucked under and finished with a mild hairspray to hold it in place. There is no need to change the colors between appointments. The champagne tones stay between visits for 5-6 weeks so again it’s a color and style of all-around low maintenance!

QA with Brandie Rivas Style Creator Future Cosmetologist in Largo / Clearwater Fl How would you describe this look? This is an appearance of a seasonal fall dimension. For the fall, most ladies want to go completely dark, but in this case my client still wanted to keep her highlights, but also add a warm tone pop. I love the contrast between the highlights and the lowlights and how all the colors blend together. The suggestions that someone feels about it? Invest in a good shampoo of the last hue. Usually they are sulfate-free, which helps to keep the color vivid. Any red tone is relatively high maintenance and will fade more quickly if you don’t use a professional brand shampoo and hair products. If you’ve got a busy lifestyle this color wouldn’t be the best choice. Shades of red can get dull easily and if you want to keep up, it would be advised to get a change of color every 4-6 weeks. If you want to be prepared for the transition back to your natural or ideal color for only the season and not for the long term. The toughest to strip from the skin is fake red tones.

Bright Pink Ombre Highlights

Halifax Shopping Center Head Shoppe Halifax Canada I’d describe this look as stylish bold. She stands out with the pink ends, but at her root she still has a natural shade that gives the color a lived-in feel. My favorite thing about this look is how casual it is and how subtly it can mix with a brown-like natural shade. Pink is a very fashionable hair color this year and I love how it gave her a sunset look with several shades in her skin! To create and maintain this look, what items do you recommend? When it comes to preserving style shades, having the right items is immense. I recommend a soft shampoo and conditioner that is sulfate-free. Pureology Hydrate and Redken Color Extend Magnetics are some of my favorites. Consider washing your hair as little as possible and preventing it from drying a lot when you do wash it in cold water. If you plan to heat your hair to get beachy waves, you will definitely want a heat-protecting spray like Redken Iron Shape. A dry texture spray will add to the curls the perfect on purpose messy look to finish the look. I love Moroccan Oil’s one. For anyone willing to try something bright and trendy, this look would be perfect. In comparison to very dark colored hair, hair that is already highlighted blonde will give the best result. Because this look has several shades of pink, both warm and cool skin tones should look good! If you’re someone who’s washing your hair every day this color won’t be for you because it’s fading with every wash. But if you’re someone who wants to stand out and try something else, that’s going to be your look!

Subtle Brown Color Melt

QA with> Luxe Beauty Barin Pleasanton Ca How are you going to describe this look and what’s your favorite? With a thick fringe around the head and long layers, this look is a chic long hairstyle. For low maintenance and maintenance, I produced a lighter, more subtle color melt. My favorite thing about this look must be how a cool but soft brown ends in the paint. What products do you recommend that this look be created and maintained? I used all R+Co products to create this look. I started with the One Pre-Spray and then used the Blowout Balm of Park Ave. She has curly hair so this coupled with round brushes from Olivia Garden helps to give a smooth and shiny finish to the hair. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? My client is a nurse with a lot of hair so I wanted to get her some longer bangs for her center part that was long enough to get them back up. With the shorter softer pieces around the front hairline dropped out, the customer with a strong jaw ine will benefit most. This hairstyle is perfect for the girl who doesn’t want to have a balayage brush every six weeks in the salon. Highlights of Ash Blonde

What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? For those who don’t like traditional foil highlights, I recommend this type of color. This look is ideal for low-maintenance people who just want to frequent the salon every four to six months. The hot caramel tones tend to work better with those with warm skin tones (think olive) or those with a level 4 or darker natural color.

Mocha Highlights

QA with> My Salonin Chico Ca How are you going to describe this look and what’s your favorite? This look is simple and elegant without any effort. I would call this look that’s how I woke up. My favorite thing about it is that it’s done in such a subtle way that doesn’t look like she’s tried too hard but has the confidence to bring out the best in this look. Which items do you suggest that this look be created and maintained? A dry texture spray or wax spray like Unite Texturiza or Sexy Hair Play Dirty is recommended for this look. Such types of products are a must to create a textured look that has just enough of a playful style without a messy look. This client has a lot of fine long hair anolive skin tone and doesn’t want to style her hair for more than five minutes. She also likes to appear understated. I think this look is really popular and perfect for anyone from the busy mom with just a couple of minutes to put together the busy businesswoman who has a tight schedule and only five minutes to make it happen.

Copper Highlights

QA with Louise Salon Owner / Hairstylist in Derbyshire England How would you describe this look and what is your favorite? The look that I created is casual and textured, creating this effortless but sassy style in turn. My favorite thing about color and style is that wearing and keeping is super easy. It looks so effortless, but it’s going to catch the eye instantly and it seems to take more time than it really is! Which items do you suggest that this look be created and maintained? Being a Matrix Educator and working for Matrix Color, I used Light Master to pre-light the hair using a 6 percent peroxide freehand scanning technique. I used 4ma in Matrix So Color when lifted to darken the root region and add a wealth of indulgence. Instead I toned the pre-lit areas with 8cg and 8 m Matrix Color Sync. Biolage Color Last shampoo is recommended to preserve the feel. I suggest Matrix Style Connect Mess Maker and Gloss Booster to style the textured cut. I recommend this look to anyone with very little maintenance who wants an effortless yet stylish look. It would fit well with an active, busy lifestyle. The copper tones and vivid mocha hue complement dark brown hazel or green eyes and a warm yellow and golden tone of hair. This color and style is really perfect for autumn and winter!

Blonde Sun-Kissed Highlights

QA with> Fox Jane Salonin New York Ny This look is effortless. The sound is a balayage of the honey caramel. My favorite thing about this hair color technique / balayage is that it’s low maintenance. Clients don’t often have to come in because as it grows out there’s no line of demarcation. To create and maintain this look, what products do you recommend? I used shampoo and conditioner from R+Co Gemstone. It is sulfate-free that helps maintain the color and does not strip the color of the hair or become brassy. I recommend R+Co High Dive for moisture and mid-lengthsid lengths to ends after shampooing and some of the R+Co Motorcycle’s flexible gel around the hairline to help smooth out its natural curls during the dry blow. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? Balayage is extremely versatile. This deals with everything (fine or thick straight curly). I customize the end results for individuality based on the skin tone and eye color texture and density of a client.

Caramel Balayage Highlights

QA with style creator Erica Horn Hairstylist @ Meraki Beauty in Allentown Pa My favorite thing about creating this look was the amount of reflection and shine I achieved after raising her natural level 4 to level 9 with Redken Flashlift and 20 volume developer and toning with Redken Shades Eq gloss. I rooted her with 05N and toned her mid-shaft to ends with 09P 09 T of equal parts and transparent. I trimmed her length and created long layers after rinsing shampoo and conditioning with Redken Extreme and sprayed her hair in one multi-benefit treatment with Redken One United. Using my Ghd Air Professional Hair Dryer and Olivia Garden 3 and 1/4-in Nanothermal Round Brush, I blew her hair in pieces. I finally cut her hair into three parts for heat protection and sprayed Redken Hot Sets lightly. I styled it with Drybar’s 3 Day Bender 1 and 1/4 spinning curling iron after brushing through. I ran Redken Diamond Oil through her ends after brushing to build a comfortable wave to add some extra shine! The suggestions that someone feels about it? If you are considering lightening your dark brown hair with blonde ash / beige highlights, be ready to use the right products after leaving the salon. I recommend a shampoo that has a purple / blue tone like Pulp Riot Barcelona at least once a week when a client wants to be in the beige / ash blonde spectrum. I also suggest bonding shampoo and conditioner from Schwarzkopf Professional BlondeMe to help restore and maintain your hair’s structural integrity. You can expect your hair to feel a little dry because this is such a high lift color. It can be a game changeer to use a conditioning mask like L’OrĂ©al Professional Absolute Repair Lipidium Mask once a week for 5 minutes. Overall, glazes and light trims can easily maintain this color and style every eight weeks. It’s also the perfect jumping point for brunettes to go blonde but skipping over the caramel or brassy stage. If you’re trying to lighten your summer brunette locks and stay on the trend, maybe there are ash and beige blonde highlights for you! Highlights of Ash Brown

For all s and all lifestyles, I think this is a great paint strategy because it’s very high fashion with very low maintenance. You may wear this color literally straight curled or in an updo and it’s going to look fashionable and then some.

Hot Bronde Highlights

What’s your favorite thing about this look? This is one of the brondes I love! We made a rich chocolate brown base color and just through her crown we added ribbons of gold balayage. We completed the look with a long layered haircut of medium length. My favorite thing about this look is that with a strong contrast it’s a rich warm colour. It’s not a color of high maintenance as the contrast is at her mids and finishes gently fading into her base color. To create and maintain this look, what products do you recommend? I suggest the Beautifying Elixir line from Eufora to preserve the hair’s rich color and nutrition. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? This look is great for warm skin tone brunets. The yellow undertones in her skin allow her to pull through her hair from the rich golden shades. Use beige or cooler ashy tones throughout if you have a warmer skin tone (with light undertones). For highlighting, the maintenance is low (from 12 weeks to 6 months if she wants). Only for gray coverage we keep her base regularly and keep the wealth in tone with a gloss at the ends (every five to seven weeks). This blends into a busy lifestyle with the freedom to go between focusing or balaying as long as you want. Highlights

QA with> James Joseph Salonin Medford Ma How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it? This technique is called a balayage shadow that I used to color her hair. Balayage is a process in which we paint on the hair with pigment or lightner as stylists. The color is painted off her root as you can see in this picture, so it will leave a soft natural growth out versus the root is highlighted. Within six weeks, highlights to the root will leave a demarcation line. To create and maintain this look, what products do you recommend? What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? For those with a very busy lifestyle, this look is great. Therefore, the color is painted off the root, whatever color is selected will not clash with her skin. My favorite thing about scanning is that it looks and feels so natural!

Highlights of Glossy MahoganyWhat kind of customer would you recommend this look for? I recommend this kind of look to anyone who wants a contemporary look that is budget-friendly and low-maintenance because there is no need for a complete overhaul if they keep up with their re-growth and gloss services every four to six weeks. This can be adjusted in a variety of ways depending on the lifestyle underlying tones of the skin and/or color preference of the moment simply by changing the gloss added to the pre-lit areas. The only type of hair I don’t recommend dark colors are people with a finer texture of hair and or thinning hair problems. Dark colors make it look even less dense and nobody wants to increase their hair struggles.

Rooted Pink Highlights

QA with> Square Salonin Las Vegas Nv How are you going to describe this look and what’s your favorite? This look I’d characterize as a rooted pink / peach / rose gold check. My favorite thing about his look is that for the summer my client was able to get some nice color in her hair without her eyes. To create and maintain this look, what items do you recommend? I recommend that you rinse hair in cold water and a color-safe shampoo and conditioner to preserve the look. I personally took a white conditioner for this customer and mixed it in a little of the pink formula to make a custom toning mask for her to use when she noticed the color fading. What kind of customer would you recommend this look for? This color can be worn by anyone! Whether you have the curliest or thinnest hair, it doesn’t matter which skin color you have or even your personal style you just need to own it to love it! Lifestyle wise it is best for people who don’t mind three or four hairs a day (your best friend will be an amazing dry shampoo!) because the color will last longer the less you wash it. Sometimes, if you’re spending a lot of time in the light, the hue is also more likely to disappear. If you plan to be in the sun for a while, I suggest wearing a hat.

QA with> Aloha Beauty Studioin Novosibirsk Russian Federation How would you describe this look and what is your favorite? This color was a challenging task as we focused on saving the hair value. Everything was done in stages: 1. Olaplex colorout and 2. To keep it normal, the full toning. I’ve toned Wella Illumina’s hair. Tigi Catwalk Salt Spray and Tigi Bedhead Hard Head have been used for the theme. The iron was used to create the surf waves. What kind of customer would you recommend this look for? This look is a great option for you if you’re a brunette who just wants a little blonde. This color will be mixed longer. Surfwaves are easily created and work from the office to a party in any situation.

I still say a good blowout for your hairstyle is a solid foundation. I used the round brush form Matrix Style Connection Skinny Cream. For these flawless heat-protected curls, I used Paul Mitchell’s Hot Off The Press for just the right amount of hold. With Chi Shine Spray, I finished the style and fingered through the curls! What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? For any user, this look would be perfect! The babylights grow to give the effect of balayage, making this wonderful for a color that is lived in. It’s a breeze to run! Highlights

QA with> Salon Cieloin Orlando Fl How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it? It’s a balayed shadow. The dimension and contrast it creates is my favorite thing. To create and maintain this look, what products do you recommend? What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? This look is perfect for someone who wants dark brown hair highlights, but not on the part line directly. With this look, you have less touch-up appointments, but keep in mind that with regularly scheduled toners, most balayage ombers need to be maintained. For clients who want a more natural-looking highlighted effect regardless of the tone or skin tone, I recommend balayage.

Pink Strawberry Highlights

QA with> Sola Salon Studiosin Columbus Oh How are you going to describe this look and what’s your favorite? I’d describe this as a rose / berry-tone midnight hue that’s a great fall transition when you’re bored with the blonde summer highlights. It’s rich and trendy, but it can still be suitable for office. I love that it turns into a beautiful pastel when it fades. To create and maintain this look, what products do you recommend? I love Moroccan Oil Smoothing Lotion for styling in order to keep frizz at bay while keeping smooth. I finished the definition with Igk Down and Out Grunge Spray and that allled look lived-in. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? Anyone who is looking for something fun would wear this look from brunette to blonde. It compliments the undertones of neutral and olive. It is a higher maintenance color that needs to be refreshed every four to six weeks in order to maintain the vibration.

Subtle featuresWhat kind of customer do you suggest this look for? For any client who is afraid to take that next step but wants to be different, I recommend this look. It’s great for easy women who don’t have to be glamorous because they just want a small enough shift to feel beautiful! It is very natural and easy to manage and this type of color is quite easy to transition to, contrary to very drastic blondes. This is a perfect color for all skin tones and colors of the eyes!

Soft Caramel Highlights

QA with> Karma Salon Boutiquein Tryon Nc How are you going to describe this look and what is your favorite? I’d describe this as a balayage of soft caramel. I love to do color that looks lived-in and soft, and it’s going to grow out pretty. To create and maintain this look, what items do you recommend? I used a B3-added Oligo Pro Blacklight Lightener. We processed with Redken Shades eq 8n+9p for 25 minutes and glazed midshaft and pulled 9p through the ends. I finished the look with my favorite products in Redken styling. To add a soft dimension, I recommend this color to anyone at or below level 5. Whether the customer is fair or olive, most skin tones work well. I recommend this look to consumers who want a low maintenance color because it’s very organic and looks great for months at a time.

Bronze Dimensional Highlights

How would you characterize this look and what is your favorite? I’d describe this look as a bronze organic dimension. My favorite thing about this look is that it allows somebody with dark hair to get some beautiful brightness but without the traditional highlights starting at the scalp being maintained. What products do you recommend that this look be created and maintained? I used a 40 vol balayage lightener and a 2-inch chip brush from the hardware store to create this look. In deep v patterns, we scanned to create a ton of dimension throughout the hair of my guest. I toned it with 8v and 8n, my favorite toner bronde. To maintain this look, I recommend shampoo and conditioner for Pureology Hydrate. I also suggest using a violet shampoo once a week to battle off brassy tones as well as Olaplex 3 to help keep the hair between chemical services healthy and strong. What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? Personally, whatever their hair or skin tone, I love rooty scanning on everyone. It’s extremely low maintenance, perfect for all lifestyles. Although I recommend that my balayage clients come in for regular trims, they usually only need to come in one to three times a year for their color touch ups, which is a great time and saver for them.

Highlights Short Bob

This is a versatile look and would be perfect for neutral or warm skin tones of fine to medium s and suitable for a more professional or casual setting. Rich Copper Violet Highlights

How would you characterize this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

Rich Copper Violet Highlights

I love this look because the region of the root is more natural and the bold color ribbons attract the attention of the eye. With the dramatic copper highlights, the vivid violet undertones build a complex mix. To create and maintain this look, what products do you recommend? I used Aveda Full Spectrum Intense color to create this look. I highly recommend Aveda Color Conserve Shampoo and Conditioner in order to maintain such a bold color. As for styling this long layered hair I applied a quarter-sized quantity of Aveda Daily Color Protect from mid shaft to ends and then applied a quarter-size quantity of Aveda Confixor Gel from roots to ends to add volume to hold. I used a 2-inch Chi round brush to blow dry her hair to create the loose waves and then used a 1-inch Babyliss Titanium Pro curling iron. Anyone who enjoys a vibrant and vivacious look should wear these bold colors. Our hair is supposed to be our best accessory and I often believe in changing accessories. This guest has extremely thick hair that can support a wide range of colors and layers. The effect of a color and cut like this will vary depending on your hair’s texture.

Beach Golden Highlights

What’s your favorite thing about this look? This hand painted balayage is an appearance that allows women to have lighter strands without the frequent maintenance required by traditional highlights. My favorite thing about this look is the waves on the beach that show the hue of the measurements. Which items do you suggest that this look be created and maintained? The materials used to create this look are all from the product line from Paul Mitchell. For the style I used Quick Slip with memory and faster drying time with Heat Seal for thermal protection and Keep Me Tight for a solid yet flexible finish. I recommend the Platinum Blonde Shampoo from Paul Mitchell to maintain the color, which includes a touch of violet to prevent brassiness. What kind of customer would you recommend this look for? The best part about the hand painted balayage is that it is mixed at the top, allowing it to grow beautifully and extending the time between visits to the salon. The two are combined in dynamite.

Light Caramel Highlights

What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? I think it’s a great look for anybody. It’s all about changing the weight within the form to convert it into all the textures. For a naturally curly girl, this is also a great look. I’d say this is great for anyone looking for a low-maintenance look that still offers a lot of versatility in styling.

Dimensional Grey Highlights

QA with> 29th Salonin Brookfield Wi How are you going to describe this look and what’s your favorite? I’d describe this look as a gray dimensional scanner. My favorite thing about it is how it perfectly melts between the dark and the light colors. To create and maintain this look, what items do you recommend? To prevent the silver color from fading as much as possible, I suggest either a violet or silver shampoo. I used a 1-inch Marcel curling iron to create the waves that left the ends straight. Texture spray will look like this as your best friend! Balayage is a perfect color for the low-maintenance gal in general, as you only need to change it every three to six months. If you want to keep it silvery coming in for a gloss, this color will generally have a little more maintenance once every month. This colors will rock everybody and everyone!

Smoky Silver Highlights

What’s your favorite thing about this look? My favorite thing is the dimension of this look! I love how the pieces of light pop against the dark background. What products do you recommend that this look be created and maintained? I definitely recommend a lightener for stylists to help you reach your desired level, but also to help with hair health. I love to use Blonde Me Schwarzkopf for hair that can handle a little bit more. I recommend Goldwell Silk Lift for hair that needs something gentler. I believe good shampoo and conditioner are key to maintaining the customer’s color! You want to use something hydrating and color-safe like Bumble’s Color Minded. It’s up to me! It really depends on the individual. If the customer is willing to maintain the color (i.e. toners of special shampoos etc.) I think a variety of people could look great.

Lighter

What kind of customer do you suggest this look for? I highlight this type from thick to thin and curly to straight for most s. It works great with a lot of different textures. It’s very subtle, but it can be tailored to customers who like a little bit of a pop. Consultation is key to ensuring that everyone is on the same page and you end up with the best results with highlights for a dark brown hair color!
