Disney Plus: What you need to know about the Streaming Service of DisneyByGabriela Vatu-November 12, 2018.371 Disney+ will start late next year. It’s been a long time coming but the Walt Disney Company has finally announced that its streaming network is called DisneyPlus and it’s scheduled to launch late in 2019 in the USA. Numerous talks about this platform have been going on for many months now so it was hoped that a launch date will come a lot earlier than the end of 2019 but we think they want everything to be perfect. Disney’s chairman and Ceo Bob Iger said DisneyPlus is next year’s biggest priority for the company so you can bet they’re coming blazing on the gun scenes. Although getting yet another streaming service particularly one focused on a single production company is slowly beginning to drive us nuts we can’t help but feel a bit excited about the announcement. So let’s see what we have seen until now.
They settled on Disney+ after many months of speculation primarily because Iger referred to it as “Disney Play” in several interviews. The organization also unveiled the logo along with the name so it’s really set in stone. Only a few months ago Espn that is part of Walt Disney got its own streaming platform called Espn+ so we see a theme here.
What kind of content would you expect? First and foremost, since the 1920s, Disney has been around so there’s plenty of material they might make available in there like old animated cartoon movies and more. Around 7000 episodes and some 400 to 500 movies might end up on Disney Plus at the launch, some experts estimated. But the more thrilling aspects of this network come from new developments such as the Star Wars or Pixar Marvel universe. Not only that but Disney is focusing on further content development. Who exactly are you asking? Well, just recently a show featuring Tom Hiddleston’s Loki has been confirmed while another Marvel hero is also getting some screen time from Scarlet Witch. Winter Soldier and Falcon appear on another Marvel series. Also in the works they revealed are a Star Wars series called The Mandalorian starring Diego Luna who has played Cassian Andor in recent Star War films. Plus another Star Wars season: The Clone War is also being filmed. Disney is also working on new films and series set in the Monster Inc High School Musical worlds, and more, according to the press release. Plus Disney continues to work on new films. Frozen 2 Captain Marvel and Toy Story and Star Wars: Episode Ix are just a few of the upcoming titles. Disney has confirmed a while ago that it will pull its content from Netflix’s likes so you should expect to find their content only on their official platform as soon as it starts. Many content may still exist on other platforms though in recent years such as Marvel series like those produced by Netflix.
According to the latest announcement the launch day will be in ‘ late 2019, ‘ which means that we are likely to see the new DisneyPlus anywhere from September to Christmas Day. Words. Pages.
