On July 5, 1928, actor Warren Mercer Oates, later known as Warren Oates, was born in Kentucky, in the United States.
In his childhood, Warren had to work picking strawberries to help with the family economy, since his parents had lost the store they had as a result of the Great Depression that the country suffered.
Soon, the family changed cities, moving to Louisville, where Warren’s father had landed a job at a hospital.
Warren graduated from Male High School in 1945, after which he decided to enroll in the Marines.
After two years Warren, he entered the University of Louisville, where he began to take an interest in acting and theater.
Warren’s performances were of very good quality and the director of the University company decided to recommend him for an audition in New York.
In the capital of the “big apple”, the actor meets other actors who also wanted to make their way into the world of cinema, such as Steve McQueen.
In 1958, he meets Sam Peckinpah, who hires him for some episodes of the television series “The man with the rifle.”
From the decade of the 60s, the actor’s career began to emerge, taking part in different western genre films, such as El mayor Dundee or “Ride the High Country”, among others.

On April 3, 1982, Warren died of a heart attack when he was 53 years old.
