Vicente del Bosque – Biography of Vicente del Bosque

On December 23, 1950, Vicente del Bosque González was born in Salamanca, Spain.

His parents were Fermín del Bosque and María del Carmen González.

Very soon Vicente began to show interest in the world of sports and specifically in soccer. When he was 16 years old, CD Salmantino signed him as a youth player, where he played for two years.

A scout from the Plus Ultra team, currently called Real Madrid Castilla, sees him play and decides to take him to Madrid, where he would play with this team for 2 years.

The Real Madrid team, before taking him to the first team, decides to transfer Vicente to other teams, with the aim that acquire some experience, going through several, such as Castellón and Córdoba.

In 1973, Vicente was hired by Real Madrid, where he would play 11 seasons, confollowing 4 Copas del Rey and 5 Spanish Leagues.

After leaving his stage as a player, he began to train as a coach, being the first team to coach Castilla Real Madrid.

In 1994, Real Madrid hired him as a coach, to replace Benito Floro, but he ended up occupying other positions in the entity after a few months.

In 1996 he returned to coaching duties, this time replacing Jorge Valdano, although only for a series of months, until Arsenio Iglesias was hired to lead the team.

In the 1999/00 season, and after the departure of John B. Toshack, Vicente replaced him, achieving various successes and cups for the “meringue club“, for example 2 Spanish leagues, 1 Super Cup, 2 UEFA Champion League, 1 European Super Cup 1 Intercontinental Cup.

The Turko team from Besiktas hired him in 2004, although he did not achieve any success for this team.

In 2007 he became part of the Cádiz technical team, where he did not finish either, being fired at the end of the season.

In 2008, and after the departure of Luis Aragonés, the Spanish National Team hires him to lead the team, where, following a line similar to that of his predecessor, he achieves a series of successes that said team had not achieved until then. becoming a world football benchmark from then on.

Vicente manages to lead the National Team to the Soccer World Cups to be held in 2010, which he wins for the first time in the history of the National Team.

In 2012, he again led the national team to the Eurocup, which is celebrated in Poland and Ukraine, getting this title as well.

In 2014, he again classified the National Team for the World Cup, held this time in Brazil, although this time he would not make it past the 1st round.

Currently, Vicente has been hired until 2016.

On the other hand, Vicente has been awarded various awards and medals, such as The Golden Eleven, The UEFA Award, The IFFHS Award or The FIFA Award, Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Sports Merit or Grand Cross of the Order of the Second of May .
