Netflix Users Can Now Watch Movies And Shows On MobileByNitish Singh-March 8, 2018.639 Netflix mobile app now allows users to watch movies and displays as vertical images. Other features like smartphone downloads and codec optimization were also introduced with much more research. Netflix Vp of product Todd Yellin announced a new feature allowing Netflix subscribers to preview shows and new features for movies. Now a few years ago this very feature was added to Netflix’s Tv app to access a content-preview. But it’ll now also be available on the mobile interface starting in April. The previews will be inserted as round icons straight into the home screen. To explore more of the content, users can tap on this icon to see the preview or swipe through it. .640 Figure 1 Picture Courtesy of Netflix Netflix is currently seeking to improve its mobile platform, as it is commonly used by many of its customers. Twenty percent of all Netflix viewing takes place on mobile devices alone and more than 50 percent of all Netflix subscribers access the service every month through their mobile apps. Yellin says they’ve invested a lot in developing its mobile platform. In addition to the preview features, the mobile app also has a feature to encourage smartphone downloads and a codec optimization that enables users to view hi-res with a connection of as little as 200 Kbps. Netflix is also well known for checking its products thoroughly before they are made available. As such, Yellin says that, while the preview functionality did, many of their proposed features did not pass their checks.
