Roku Still Unable to import and sell Mexican goodsFigure 1 Photo Courtesy of Engadget At the time of the ban piracy activities were at its height as more than 300 outlets of illegal content were sold at $8/month rates to customers. Roku has accused toharborfaulty-software that could be changed to allow unauthorized programming to be broadcast. Pcs laptops and even mobile devices however can be used to access all such pirated content. So there’s the problem-why ban Roku? This reasoning reportedly prompted a federal judge to temporarily suspend the ban, but as soon as sales figures began to recover the tribunal in Mexico City went with the previous decision to uphold the ban once again. Also, the same claim is put forward that Roku apps can be used to conduct “dishonest trade” in breach of Mexico’s copyright legislation. Lastly, it is worth noting that the use of Roku devices is still legal and that the ban is on import only. Therefore individuals who already own a Roku system are unaffected by the ban and receive proper facilities and regular updates.
