Toms Zori – Biography of Toms Zori

Actor Tomás Zori was born in 1925 in Madrid.

Tomás was born into a humble family in the Vallecas neighborhood. His vocation was immediately clear to him, and it is said that as a child he had a great comic talent, often staging exhibitions of it for family and friends.

She made her debut very young, and she did so at the Romea Theater in Murcia, in the play “La del manojo de rosas”, in a comic tenor role.

At 17 he formed a humorous trio with Manuel Codeso and Fernando Santos, whom he met during the performance of the play “Don Quintín el amargao”. The trio will be called Zori, Santos and Codeso. The three comedians stay together for no less than 20 years, in which they become the most popular characters in the magazine genre.

After 20 years, in 1962, Codeso decided to leave the group, which was then reduced to a duo, Zori and Santos, who managed, in any case, to stay together for another 20 years.

Zori worked in all media. In the cinema he made his debut in 1954, with the film “El bandido generoso”, directed by José María Elorrieta. He does not have a very extensive career in this medium, although considerable, having worked under such prestigious directors as Luis García Berlanga in “La vaquilla”, Fernando Fernán Gómez in “Out of play” or Jaime de Armiñán in “El palomo lame”.

As for television, his work on it can be said to have been sporadic. Thus, in 1985 he took part in the space “The Spanish musical comedy”, and in 1995 he had a role in the series “Who gives the time”, directed by Javier Escrivà.

Tomás Zori died on September 2, 2002 in Madrid, due to Alzheimer’s disease.
