T – Ice-T Biography

Tracy Lauren Marrow, better known as Ice-T, was born in Newark, New Jersey in February 1958.

When he was in sixth grade, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to live with his paternal aunt, after the death of his father; his mother had passed away three years earlier.
His aunt lived south of Los Angeles in the Crenshaw district, a violent neighborhood popularly known as South Central. Soon he was immersed in the street life of his neighborhood and became a member of the West Side Rollin 30s Original Harlem Crips.

In 1979, he joined the Army, dropping out of high school, but after four years, not content with the army’s submission life, he returned to South Central, intending to become a hip-hop musician.
