For 10 years SevenTorrents has been alive making it one of the oldest torrent websites out there. Over the years, hundreds of torrent websites have gone down, but very few hold SevenTorrents ‘ reputation. After 10 years of service the website shut down all operations and served over the years more than 40 million unique users. It’s quite the feat with an oppressive anti-piracy environment and the entertainment industry going after most piracy websites staying alive for as long. According to SevenTorrents the website saw six million unique visitors last year. Yesterday the website owners announced they would shut down the website and shift the torrent database into a new domain. Users on the new WatchSoMuch domain will be able to continue using their existing accounts. “0/0.2510.jpg” “We decided to retire here today. Yet for you this is not the end and we’re not going to let you down there’s a good news for you. We spoke to the owners of the professional friend site WatchSoMuch who are doing the same thing as we were doing but have a super fast search and modern and mobile-friendly design in a better way, “said SevenTorrents in their final announcement. Over the years the website has weathered a fair proportion of legal action. SevenTorrents ‘ main domain was blocked in the Uk in 2014 after a complaint was filed through British Isps by the Motion Pictures Association. Subsequently also other domains were blocked in 2016. Despite the legal pressure the website continued to operate fairly successfully. The new WatchSoMuch domain already has thousands of new members and more users are likely to be switching to the new service after the launch. According to SevenTorrents users don’t care about transferring their data to the new service. Nonetheless, they are concerned about the aging website being closed. Grip.
