Rivaldo was born on April 19, 1972 in Recife, Brazil.
Introverted and shy soccer player, gifted with exquisite individual technique, an impressive left foot, and a great capacity for shots. He played offensive midfielder or left winger, had a slim body, but tall and stringy. He was a specialist in free kicks and also in taking penalties.
He lived his best sports days at FC Barcelona, a team that signed him in 1997 when he belonged to Deportivo de La Coruña. The Barça team paid the sum of 4,000 million pesetas, which became a record figure for that moment.
In the whole of Catalonia he managed to win 2 consecutive leagues, and with that he managed to be called up as a starter in the Brazilian team, where he won the Soccer World Cup played in Korea and Japan in 2002.
He was also recognized with the Ballon d’Or for the best player in the world in 1999.
He currently works for the Greek club Olympiakos, where he has won two leagues in a row.
