Raúl González was born on June 27, 1977 in Madrid, Spain.
Raúl started playing for the San Cristóbal de los Ángeles (Villaverde) team, and little by little he was moving to quite important teams, such as Atlético de Madrid, in the children’s-cadet categories, and later reached the lower categories of the another club from Madrid: Real Madrid.
He made his debut in 1994 in the first team of Real Madrid (club in which he carried out his entire professional sports career) against Real Zaragoza on October 29 of that year. A week after his official debut, he would achieve his first goal, against Atlético Madrid, who saw him born.
He won the Leagues in the 1994-1995, 1996-1997, 2000-2001 and 2002-2003 seasons, three Spanish Super Cups (1997, 2001 and 2003) and has been Pichichi (scorer) in the 1998-1999 and 2000-2001 seasons .
At the international level, he won the Champions League in the 1997-1198, 1999-2000, 2001-2002 seasons, the European Super Cup in 2002, and the Intercontinental Cup in 2000 and 2002.
Every time Raúl scores a goal, he celebrates it with a kiss to his wedding ring, in recognition of his wife Mamem Sanz.
With the national team he played the 1996 Olympic Games, the 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Cups and the 2000 and 2004 Euro Cups. He is the historic scorer for the Spanish soccer team with 44 goals in 102 games.
