Google Receives Hundreds of Takedown Notices from Sky Tv ByNitish Singh-March 2 2019.066 Google is guided to take down hundreds of Urls linked to Iptv pirate websites from Sky Tv. Some of the targeted sites include EpicIptv TalentIptv and BestIptv Enjoy-Iptv. Shortly after Sky Tv cracked down on numerous Iptv box sellers around the globe the Dmca notices were filed. For months Sky Tv has been cracking down on unlicensed Iptv operators and the network is now turning its sights on Google. Sky is getting thousands of takedown notices from the search engine giant to take down the search results that lead to pirated content. A single removal notice may in some cases have as many as 500 Urls. While Google is known to refuse a variety of takedown notices without providing any reasons, in the recent past the search giant has been more receptive to complaints. As seen with the recent update to Section 115a of Australia’s Copyright Act Google is approving requests for deletion after facing pressure from government and media. While many claim that blocking the site is not effective in the long run as users who want to access pirated content eventually find alternative sources have shown that blocking the site leads to a reduction in piracy. Sky’s efforts against pirate websites may be successful, but it also leads to website owners having problems removing their pages from the search results of Google even if the pages do not host pirated content.
