Megan will appear in every episode of the unscripted show that is scheduled to debut in spring of this year after HBO Max opens shop. Legendary will have her input on dance and fashion divas that are participating in a vogue competition for the crown. Voguing is a competitive style of modern dance which features high fashion and model-struck poses based choreography. Legendary features eight voguing houses each consisting of five performers and a “house parent” member. Teams compete in an arcing competition that tracks a thematic ball every episode from beginning to end giving full access to the action behind the scenes. Although Megan Thee Stallion could add her own style to the series, both Maldonado and Wesley are well-known icons within the voguing community. Per Out Magazine Maldonado is the Amazon house chief and Wesley runs House Lanvin. Soon after HBO Max revealed its casting news backlash due to Jameel Jamil’s involvement in the series, the show is already facing some controversy. The influence and roots of Voguing come from the LGBTQ community, with its style coming primarily from Latino and African-Americans. Among some members of the ballroom and LGBTQ communities there is a feeling that Jamil will not host a display for a community she is not a part of. No news yet from Megan Thee Stallion about her new role in the show, but this is likely to change once Legendary gets closer to her date of premiere. In May 2020 HBO Max goes live.
