Plex Update Brings Subtitle

Plex Update Brings Subtitle Support and Other ImprovementsByNitish Singh-September 26, 2018 564 Plex has received a major update finally addressing the issue of having to add subtitles to the content manually. Plugins with less than 2 percent of users using the feature have been excluded from the website. Improvements were also made to Plex Sync and Audio codecs. Plex users are set to receive a major update which will carry several product improvements. The major change that comes to the platform is the introduction of a new subtitles feature. Users previously relied on manually adding subtitles, and had to sit through advertisements and a complicated menu to add files from their desktop. With the latest update allowing subtitles, users won’t need to return to their device. Subtitle files can be connected remotely from your device over your network. The functionality is not yet available but in the next few days it will soon become available to Plex Pass users through the Pass Preview program. Users who don’t have Plex Pass access will get the feature later this year.

The browser extension was blacklisted by Opera after it discovered malicious activity with older versions available. Opera users who installed the Tampermonkey 4.7.54 via the Chrome Web Store on Google ran into an error message claiming that the extension was blacklisted according toTechDowsreports. Opera claims that the extension was used to distribute malware, and users were directed to continue using the secure 4.2.5291 build or remove the extension entirely. 567 Figure 2 Image Courtesy of TechDows Tampermonkey creator Jan Biniok replied to Opera’s allegations that “they’re not really clear what the real problem is? Is the extension being modified which means it is no longer the same extension as the one on the Chrome Web Store and should not be blocked or is another program / extension being used to bypass the acceptance criteria? “Tests conducted by other news websites revealed that Tampermonkey is not itself infected with other applications such as Gom Player installing the malicious dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpobfkfo extension using Tampermonkey. It essentially means that the Tampermonkey extension itself is not malicious but other developers are misusing it. 568 Figure 3 Photo Courtesy of TechDows If you want to delete the extension’s blacklist, you can simply close the tab and open the ‘ percent UserProfile percent ‘ file using Notepad. Use the find command (Ctrl + F) to open the file quest for “dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo.” Change the “blacklist” value: trueto”blacklist: “falseand change”blacklist state”:1to”blacklist state”:0 and you’ll be able to access Tampermonkey’s latest version again. Alternatively you can continue to use the older version of the extension until the developers address the issue to keep you safe from possible malicious activity.
