Peter schmeichel He was born in 1963 in Gladsaxe, Denmark.

From a very young age, Schmeichel played soccer in his hometown, until he switched to Hvidovre, in which he played for 2 years.

Later his sports career would grow by playing in the Brondby, team in which he played 4 seasons and managed to win 4 titles.

His debut with the Denmark national team occurred on May 10, 1988 in a goalless draw against the Hungary national team, disputing the Eurocup from 1988.

His great moment with the Danish team was when they managed to win the Swedish Eurocup in 1992.
He also participated in the Eurocup 1996 and Soccer World Cup in France 1998. He holds the record for the most games played with that team (129 games).

In the summer of 1991 it was bought by the Manchester United, for the sum of 600,000 euros.

In 1994 he achieved the mark of receiving a goal every 1,000 minutes.

With this team he won 5 England Premiers Leagues (1993, 1994, 1996, 1997 and 1999) and 3 titles of the FA Cup (1994, 1996 and 1999)
His greatest achievement with Manchester United It was when he got the title of the UEFA Champions League in 1998-1999.

After getting triple crown in 1999, Peter declared that he was tired of the high competition of the premier league, thus announcing his retirement.
Although months later he returned with the Sporting Lisbon, club with which he won 2 league titles.

Motivated to help improve the career of his son, also a goalkeeper, the Great Dane made the decision to return to England, to sign with him Aston Villa.
After a season, he returned to his city, to play with the rival of United, the Manchester City. At the end of that season Peter announced his final retirement.
