Morgan Spurlock – Biography of Morgan Spurlock

Morgan Valentine Spurlock He was born in Parkersburg (West Virginia), United States, on November 7, 1970. After having studied at Woodrow Wilson High School, which ended in 1989, he graduated in Film from New York University, perfecting himself at the Tisch School of the Arts, but only after being rejected in many other film schools in the United States.

After creating the program “I bet you will“(2002), he launched himself in the documentary career, filming the controversial documentary”Super Size Me“(2004), in which he is subjected to a strict fat diet. Three times a day, for a month, he consumed meals at McDonald’s, following the caloric advice recommended by the most famous fast food chain in the world, while documenting everything with the help of a cardiologist, a nutritionist and a gastroenterologist, in order to demonstrate the poor diet that the average American citizen follows, even at the cost of becoming obese. The documentary was nominated for an Oscar and triumphed in its category at the Festival Sundance Film Festival.

After producing the reality show “30 days“, of which he was the protagonist; he wrote the book”Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? “which led him to film a new documentary, with the same title, in 2008.

His career continued directing the special episode for the 20th Anniversary of the hit animated series “The simpsons“in 2010; to return to documentaries, among which stand out”Freakonomics“,”The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” Y “The dotted line“, filmed between 2010 and 2011.

Spurlock also most recently directed the tour documentary for hit teen band One Direccion, titled “One Direction: This Is Us.” He also directed and produced the television series “Mansome“, between 2012 and 2013 and”Inside man” in 2013.

In his personal life, after a first marriage that ended in divorce, he married in Fiji, with actress Alexandra Jamieson, on May 3, 2006; they both have a son named Laken James Spurlock.
