Michelle de Lucchi was born in 1951, in Ferrara, Italy.
I study in the Enrico Fermi Scientific High School from Padua and trained as an architect with Adolfo Natalini (born 1941) in the University of Florence, where he finally graduated in 1975.
In 1973 he co-founded together with Piero brombini, Pier Paola Bortolami, Boris pastrovicchio Y Valerio Tridenti the architecture and design group Cavart, which was the promoter of a radical design program through happenings, publications and seminars.
By Lucchi also collaborated with Suerstudio, with Ettore Sotas Y Gaetano pesce.
He also devoted himself to teaching architecture in the University of Florence between 1975 and 1977.
In this year he moved to Milan to work as a consultant in the study Kartell, Centrokappa.
By Lucchi he later worked with his friend Ettore Sottsass on the plans for the first Memphis exhibition.
In 1979 he designed prototypes of household appliances for Studio Alchimia and advised Olivetti.
In 1981 he co-founded Memphis and introduced geometric patterns to the cooperative’s plastic laminates.
In 1986 he founded the Milanese design group Solid and started teaching in the Domus Academy from the same city.
In the early 1990s, he founded the Lucchi Group and since then he has done a lot of work in Japan and Germany.
His designs have been increasingly adapted to industrial production.
Among its clients we can find prestigious companies such as Artemide, FçKartell, Bieffeplast, Mandarina Duck Y Pelikan.
The Tolomeo lamp is a classic over twenty years old for which time does not pass. Designed by Michelle de Lucchi and produced by the firm Artemide, it is composed of a movable arm by means of tensioners, made of shiny aluminum.
The diffuser with its characteristic cap is made of opaque anodized aluminum and the base of the same material. Adjustable direct light emitter with support to move it without burning your fingers.
A piece that characterizes by itself a level office.
By Lucchi has won numerous design awards, including the Good Design (Japan), Die Gute Form Y Deutsche Auswahl (from Germany) and a Compasso d’Oro (Italy).
By Lucchi he considers design as a means of communication, a sentiment present in his work throughout his entire career, from his origins as a radical and rebellious young designer to the creator of international fame that he is today.
In 1999 he was appointed to renovate some of the power plants of ENEL (the Italian board of electricity).
Many of its service interiors are currently in use at Deutsche Bank.
