Biography:
The great Argentine musician, composer, pianist, conductor and actor was born in the San Telmo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 18, 1918.
From a very young age, he studied at the D’Andrea conservatory in his hometown and, at the early age of fourteen to keep his passion alive, he began working in a cafe on Corrientes Street.
At the age of 12 he began his piano studies, and it was not long after that he traveled to Spain with his parents.
Although his life has continued in bars, theaters and shows, in 1939, Mores managed to accommodate himself in Francisco Canaro’s orchestra, a union that lasted 10 years, until Mores formed his own orchestra and a new era began, with innovations such as increasing the number of stable musicians in the orchestra.
When he began to train as a musician, he has been part of the Creole group called “La Cuyanita”, of the Trío Mores, with whom he has premiered his first compositions, which have also taken place from a very young age, and a pianist with Roberto Firpo.
When 1948 arrived, Mariano made his debut with his own orchestra after several disagreements, and among his works, “Cuartito Azul” his first tango; “In this afternoon Gris” in 1941, “Tu piel de jasmín”, “Grisel” the following year, “Uno”, his first great success with Enrique Santos Discépolo; “Every time you remember me” in 1944, “Cristal”, “Without words”, “Cafetín de Buenos Aires”, “A tear of yours”, “El Patio de la Morocha”, “La Calesita” and “Tanguera”.
After a time full of his music, Mariano Mores creates the modern rhythmic sextet, and with them he achieves his greatest successes and has traveled all over the world showing his absolutely innovative music.
How could it be otherwise, the incredible Mariano Mores besides being a pianist, director and composer has shown his facet as an actor, and has participated in numerous films, such as “Corrientes, dream street” in 1949 and “The doctor wants tangos ”In 1950, among many others popularly remembered.
With his career in hand, his popularity has inevitably spread throughout the country and abroad, he has always had his own audience, who were looking for a show with “music-hall” characteristics. And this is how this large and strident orchestra was shown, with singers who offered themselves at the top of their lungs, dancers, plays of lights, some choir and its director, hyperkinetic, now with his two hands on the keyboard, now with only one and directing with the another prays by moving away from the instrument and using both hands to lead the orchestra. His most popular tango is “Adiós Pampa mía”, which shows a tribute to the folklore of the plains, a tango with a pericón rhythm and style. He acknowledges that the best of his music have been the tangos he composed with Enrique Santos Discépolo, such as “Cafetín de Buenos Aires” and “Uno”.
