She was only 14 years old and it was with the support of her godmother, a piano teacher and well-known director of the Philharmonic Choir of
Madrid, that a young Manolo saw that he could achieve his wishes, making his soft voice heard, as if they were whispers and conquering the entire public years later.
Not leaving aside his professional, he decided to study at the University of Madrid and graduated in Philosophy and Letters.
He became famous with songs that began to sound in 1974 as “Maria no more”, “I come back to you”, “What do I have to do to forget you?”, “I have loved you so much” Y “Beautiful woman”, being part of their first record album.
Regarding his love life, Manolo married the outstanding actress and star Maria Jose Cantudo, with whom he became the father of his son Manuel. For various reasons and disagreements of the couple, they divorced in 1978.
Being already divorced, I do not hesitate to support his ex-wife in the musical work called “Ladybug of my heart” which was presented at the Calderón Theater located in the Spanish capital during 1985, and which became a success.
Knowing that he is also talented for acting, Otero returned to the stage this time as a true heartthrob. I work for the José Tamayo company, with whom he was able to visit various places in his native Spain, representing works such as “Tartufo” from Grind Y “The mill of Arcos” belongs to Ruiz Alarcon.
A professional and owner of great gifts in the world of music, he served as support on several occasions for other artists as he did with his colleague and brother from land, Camilo Sesto.
Other notable achievements were the presentation he made at the 1968 Benidorm International Song Festival and several years later, in 1977 he appeared as a guest artist at the XVIII Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile.
With a new love and fulfilled professionally and artistically, Manolo decides to travel to Brazil, where he sets up his new residence in the city of Sao Paulo in the company of his wife. In this South American country, Otero had also achieved some Platinum and Gold records, which made him feel identified and grateful with this republic.
Very involved in his work affairs of representation and even with a concert tour already planned by several Latin American countries, the singer was diagnosed with liver cancer in a routine medical check-up.
They only gave him 30 days to live in which Manolo fought with all his might, but was finally defeated by his illness and died on June 1, 2011 at the age of 68.
