Actor Luis Barbero was born on August 8, 1916 in Madrid.
His father was the director of a zarzuela orchestra, which must have weighed on Luis when choosing his profession, since he studied piano and at the same time studied rigger, finally opting for show business.
His professional debut took place on Christmas Eve in 1939, participating in the zarzuela “El rey que rabió”. He performs in a large number of lyrical works, zarzuelas and plays, almost always in comic roles.
His career on stage is very extensive, and among all his performances we will cite some works such as “Doña Clarines”, “El rayo” or “You can be a murderer”.
In 1957, the actor made his debut on the big screen, by the hand of director Joaquín Luis Romero Marchent, with the film “The man who traveled slowly”, starring Miguel Gila. From here, the actor, thanks to his good work in the theater, becomes one of the most requested secondary actors in the cinema, and, as happens on stage, they continue to give him mostly comic roles.
Thus, in the 60s and 70s we see him in a large number of films typical of the time, such as “The great family”, “What do we do with the children?”, “My dear young lady”, “And if not , we get angry “,” My wife is very decent, within what fits “or” Eva, clean as the jets of gold “, among many others.
Starting in the 1980s, the actor continued to participate in a large number of feature films, many of them already of higher quality. Thus, we can cite, among others, La colmena, “El Lute: walks or bursts”, “The things of love” or The stunned king.
As for television, a medium in which he was a very common face, he began in 1969, participating in theatrical works that were broadcast within programs such as “Hora eleven”, “Estudio 1”, “Primera function” or “The comedy”. He also participated in different programs such as “One, two, three … answer again”, “Today is also a party” or, later, in the children’s program “Los mundos de Yupi”.
He also began to participate in series, such as “This man in black”, “Golden rings”, “Pharmacy on duty”, “Thieves go to the office” or “Oh, Lord, Lord!”.
In 1995 he joined the cast of actors in the series “Family Doctor”, in which he played the character of Matías Poyo, a friend of grandfather Manolo, until 1999. Curiously, despite all the professional background that he An actor was behind him at that time, this is one of the roles that gave him the most popularity and one of those for which he is most remembered.
Later he participated in other productions such as “This is my neighborhood”, “The band of Pérez”, “Seven lives”, “Hands on work” or “Caligula”.
Luis Barbero died on August 3, 2005 in Madrid.
