Ball’s father Henry (or Had as he was introduced to his daughter Henry). It was then off to Michigan where Had taken up a job with the Michigan Bell Company as a telephone lineman. The two married in 1961, remaining together until their death in 1989.Ball who had dyed her chestnut hair blonde moved to Hollywood in the early 1930s to try out more chances of acting. Work soon followed, including a stint to promote the 1933 Eddie Cantor film as one of the 12 Goldwyn Girls. She secured a job as an extra in the Ritz Brothers movie The Three Musketeers and then received a substantial part in the Story Door in 1937, starring Katharine Hepburn and Ginger Rogers. Even as the late 1940s rolled around Ball who dyed her hair red in 1942 at the request of MGM, she looked at a barren film career unable to break into the kinds of starring roles she had always dreamed of. As a result, Arnaz pushed his wife to try broadcasting and it wasn’t long before Ball landed a lead part in the My Favorite Husband radio comedy. The show caught the attention on the small screen of CBS executives who wanted her to do something like this. Ball though insisted that includes her real-life husband something that the network clearly didn’t want to see happening. So Ball walked away and put together a vaudeville-like act like I Love Lucy with Desi and took it on the road. The pair were soon met with success. So has a CBS deal.
Her death
She died at the age of 77, in spite of an open heart surgery lasting 8 hours. She was cremated at Forest Lawn, Los Angeles, and interred.
