Luca Toni was born on May 26, 1977 in Modena, Italy.
He made his professional football debut with his hometown club, Modena FC, in 1994.
His first years were not easy for him, he did not manage to establish himself in a fixed team, as he played in a large number of clubs during short periods.
After playing for many teams in Serie B, he made the big leap to Serie A, with Viacenza Calcio, in 2000.
Although his great breakthrough would occur when he was a scorer again in Serie B, playing with Palermo, in which he scored 30 goals and helped his team to get promotion to Category A.
His best season as a footballer was achieved with Fiorentina in 2005-2006, since it was in which he made himself known internationally by being the top scorer in the championship with 31 goals, and winning the Golden Boot for the scorer in the European leagues. It also qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
These great numbers will help him make his debut with the Italy team, being one of the starters in the 2006 World Cup qualification and reaching three goals in a match against Belarus.
With the classification already assured, he entered the final list of summoned for the last phase of the tournament.
It was rumored that Luca could be transferred to Inter Milan or Real Madrid, as Fiorentina started with 19 points less the 2006-2007 Italian League for a proven fraud. Finally Toni stayed to save the team that gave him everything.
