It is a feature film belonging to the adventure genre, with a good cast of actors, led by Peter O’Toole and James Mason. The film won several awards and nominations.
The protagonist of the story is James Burke, a young officer belonging to the British merchant marine. On a voyage, James, along with his crew, and believing that the ship is about to sink, abandons the entire passage, a group of pilgrims heading to Mecca, in a boat in the middle of the ocean.
The ship does not sink, but they all agree and decide that they will affirm that they saw how it capsized. But when they arrive at port, they will have a great surprise when they find the ship there, which has been found adrift by a French ship.
James and his crew will stand trial.
