Daughter of Romulus linney, a well-known playwright, and of Miriam Anderson Perse, a nurse, became interested in acting during her teens, so after graduating from the Northfield Mount Hermon School, entered the Northwestern University, from which it was then passed to Brown University, where he graduated in 1986 with a BFA.
