Laura Benanti was born in July 1979 in New York City, in the United States, daughter of the actor Martin Vidnovic and the vocal coach and singer, Linda Wonneberger.
Of Yugoslav, German, Irish, and Native American descent, her parents divorced when she was young; shortly after they moved to the city of Kinnelon (New Jersey), where he grew up with his mother and stepfather Salvatore benanti, from whom he took his surname.
