Kodi Addon Covenant Shuts Down Along with Other Famous Addons!ByNovak Bozovic-November 17, 2017 “2/2.1360.jpg”
Backstory
The threats of legal action impacted a number of addons to Kodi earlier this year. In particular, a popular addon repository called TVAddons called it quits. This server, challenged by a multi-million dollar lawsuit, decided to shut down as the preferred option. What is interesting to note, however, is that a few months ago TVAddons resurfaced and managed to achieve its old glory somewhat. News of the latest legal fight launched by the MPA / MPAA led Partnership for Creativity and Entertainment began to spread last evening. Some of the big-name companies such as Netflix and Amazon are heading this alliance. Covenant and other additions to Kodi Shuts Down!
The MPA / MPAA was targeted by a developer that is behind one of the most popular repositories called Colossus. In addition to highly important software tools like URL Resolver and Metahandler, this repository is currently home to addons like Covenant and Bennu. The majority of addons to Kodi use these two tools, and they are used to help addons search the web for media streaming connections. If these two are inactive this will be a huge blow to the world of Kodi users. I’m sorry to say but I’m halting all urlresolver metahandler development and my other addons. I’m not liable for the bennu and covenant, but colossus decided to remove the repo as well. jsergio123 (@jsergio123) November 15, 2017 One of the casualties was the subsequent aftermath A developer called ‘ The Alpha. ‘ One of the creators and moderators of a hugely popular addon called Bennu is speculated. He was identified as the creator of this addon by the letter he received which provides ‘ unlawful access to protected copyright work. ‘ Furthermore he was identified as one of the individuals involved in the Colossus Repository maintenance. Our editorial team at TechNadu have had difficulties accessing this repository since this morning. Besides that the Bennu addon seems to have gone offline. “2/2.1361.jpg” The Alternatives? Scammers are internet bane. Most of us easily dismiss emails we never entered claiming to be from Nigerian princes or lotteries. Yet millions of people continue to lose their time and money to scumbag scammers from around the world. However there is a group of people fighting back against scammers. They are taking great pleasure in wasting the time for this scammer. They even occasionally get them to reveal their identities. These people are called “Scambaiters” More and more people take scambaiting as something of a sport. One that is both entertaining and potentially could save a real fleeced victim. So how is it that you become a scambaiter? What exactly is it they are doing? I was wondering the same and that’s what I found here.
The Scambaiters Art of Conversation does exactly the opposite of what we’ve all been taught when it comes to scamming emails. The scambaiter, rather than ignoring these messages, engages in a conversation with the scammer. They pretend to be a gullible victim and string the scammer along or get them to do things that are specific. The goals and strategies used by scambaiters are diverse, and have different endgames. The only thing that unites them is that none of those plans is good for the scammers! So where do you start the scambaiting game if you want to get on?
Joining the Scambaiter Community
Once you feel comfortable enough and have absorbed good advice from other members of the community, you can try to scambe yourself.
Important things to note
There are a few things you should keep in mind before you dive headfirst into the scambaiting game. You’re there to waste a TIME for the scammer. That should motivate anything you do that should be as unhelpful as possible The dumber and the more incompetent you think the better. That includes being totally incompetent about anything that they want you to do. Keep your own safety in mind but remember that scambaiting is intended to be fun. You’re probably never going to get a final answer once the scammer realizes that you’re messing with them, but rest assured that they’re all but happy with all the real victims they’ve missed on theft. Getting Your Hook In
“2/2.1363.jpg” Do not bother to write too much detail at first when replying to the scam email. All you need to do is say you’re interested and want more details. Even if the original scam email already contains everything the scammer wants you to ask them again for the instructions. Each time you get a questionnaire answer or ask about one more detail. Ask them why they need some specific piece of information. Does the scan have to be black and white or in colour? What if only you could pay in cash? It doesn’t really matter as long as every email you send back gives false hope to the scammer that they might still be getting some of your money.Never send them cash!
“2/2.1364.png” If your scambing goes well and you’re having fun you might be tempted to fork over a nominal amount to keep them on the hook. Essentially it’s your money but this violates an unwritten scambaiter theory. Not giving out a single cent of your money to these scammers. Whether it’s a dollar or a hundred, it doesn’t matter if you get to the point where things won’t go on without a bit of money to graze the wheels you should just walk away.
Many scambagers plan to defraud the scammers and get back some of that stolen money. They may be tricked into paying small amounts or paying for goods that never get there. While it may seem like this makes you a Robin Hood digital, the fact is that you’re really just compounding the crime. You’re paid with money from stolen credit cards, after all. Most scambaiting communities generally look down on that sort of thing.
Don’t get into a conversation with a Bot
These days, everybody seems to use chatbots. This involves other scammers, too. You could be trying to waste a piece of software time. Be sure to ask specific and difficult questions since that is entirely pointless. If the person can’t convincingly react to them just move on.
Can you use a Bot Yourself Though
Who has the time these days to do all of their own scambait? Of course, I’m kidding, but if you want to waste the time of a scammer without the trouble of actually doing it, use a bot yourself. There is the wonderful Re: scam for example. All you need to do is forward the email to the email address Re: scam and the bot will take over. If the scammer takes the bait you will even get the conversation updates. Doing it for the Right Reasons
Scambaiting can be a lot of fun and having fun doing it is perfectly fine. But if you’re doing just because you’re enjoying being well, you might want to think twice about being a scambaiter. The art of scambaiting is essentially a service to the public. Being a bad guy, or a vigilante, is not a license. You can be a great scambaiter if you can keep that philosophy in mind when hunting for the real bad guys.
