Last week, Paramount’s Edward Ryan sparked the talk of a fifth film in the Transformers series and the possibility of a new trilogy, and his suggestion that Transformers 5 would find a release date in 2016. But Bonaventura told IGN that any speculation about the future of the blockbuster franchise is still only guesswork because any and all discussions about future installments will depend on the success of the franchise’s fourth film Age of Extinction and where the popularity of the franchise appears to be heading up. “We don’t intend to do a trilogy,” Bonaventura said to IGN. “We have no plans to do a trilogy. It’s really a one-movie-at-a-time approach. “Both [ Michael Bay director ] and I feel like we’re a little arrogant to assume success each time. We know our fans are really out there and they’re going to be coming so we’re expecting some success. So all the focus would be poured into the next movie if we’re fortunate enough to get there.” Honestly, it wasn’t mentioned because we’ve been in the business of making [the main story] bigger and bigger that IGN was explaining. I assume many of those spinoffs tend to happen when there’s something on the plateau. We hopefully don’t re at that location yet. Bonaventura found out that there would be no shortage of future plot lines if the Transformers series were to go forward. “One of the things people underestimate about the world of the Transformers is how deep it’s he told IGN. “There’s a large number of characters; there’s a helluva lot of lines of stories and so on. Transformers: Age of Extinction in a joint venture between Paramount Pictures and Chinese production companies China Movie Channel and Jiafix Enterprises will hit theaters on June 27 and stars Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci. Foreign co-production is expected to bring in the big bucks from China now the world’s second-largest film-going population and where the film has benefited from increased exposure and promotion that American films are not often provided. Even with a production budget estimated at $165 million it’s pretty much a given that the new movie will prove highly profitable in the near future giving way to more movies.
